He clearly was protecting his leg in the second half. There was one breakaway in particular - he had one man in front of him and instead of attacking he pulled up and tried to pass back to a trailer, resulting in a turnover. There is zero chance he does that if he’s healthy.

I was so nervous every time he made a move or play. If he looks the same in game 3 I don't want him playing.

I didn't think he should've played. Should've kept him out until Philly wins a game. I would sit him tomorrow and give him until Monday to rest.

I guess he didn't learn from IT? ::)

Ya he had some moments where he was clearly favoring the leg. Still, Jaylen Brown on one leg is a better athlete than about 90% of the league. And as easy as it is to say he shouldn't have played I'm not sure if they win without him. He was +9 and had an impact for sure, going back to Phili 2-0 is alot different than 1-1. I would probably rest him games 3 and 4 which would give him a full six days off until game 5, but good luck trying to convince Brown to do that.

His gingerly hopping on one leg after a dunk was really disturbing to watch.

You don’t think he was hamming it up at all?

It could have been him gingerly testing it, almost expecting it to hurt. I hope it's not as bad as it looked.

To me it seems like a doctor being overly cautious and afraid of taking a risk. As it should be, and I wouldn't blame them. Just seems like a "you can play, but I'd advise against it" situation.

So if Brown feels relatively good, and minute restrictions are in order, and nothing really bad was seen on the studies, I'm comfortable with Brown playing right now.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I think the fact that he was stretching and keeping warmed up throughout the game (and presumably before the game) made it a lot less likely that he would further injure the leg. If he were to just get out of bed and then try to dunk on a 12 foot hoop, I am sure something bad would be more likely.

Personally, I am happy that he played because I think he contributed to us winning. This isn't like the IT situation as hamstring injuries are far far more common.

I also hope he plays next game, but if he needs to chill in a couple of instances like he did on the turnover on the break where he threw the ball backwards, then I am all for it.

Agreed, he had some nasty dunks, but he was almost dragging his leg.  Didn't look right at all.

If the docs were saying, hey, this won't get worse, then fine.

But if there's a chance he could rupture or tear the tendon because he's playing so soon after a strain, that's a BAD idea.  Not worth it at all.

No Doc will say a hamstring pull can’t get worse. Anyone who’s ever had one can attest. They’re very susceptible to further tearing if not healed and rehabbed.

He said aftet the game thay ge was sore, but he wasnt expecting to have to miss anymore games, so I doubt he seriously agravated anything. I would still sit him for games 3 and 4 to be safe.

Doctors approved him so he played. If the doctors went to Stevens and said he shouldn't play, Stevens wouldn't play him. I am not sure how much I buy this whole "Jaylen played against doctor's advice".

If it’s just a matter of his pain tolerance and not any danger of further, more serious injury... then I say play the kid.

Clearly he was laboring but he had a few thunderous dunks, so his strength is there. He gave us a nice boost.

I’m sure he is getting the very best care for it around the clock, and maybe 30 minutes of intense exercise (such as an NBA playoff game) won’t make this thing linger beyond the 2 weeks.
