The Celtics are playing him tough and tight any time he is within 15 feet of the basket. The Celtics length and ability to switch is driving Simmons nuts. And they are giving him every opportunity to beat them by taking a mid range to outside shot. But he can't do it.

It got so bad his coach played TJ McConnell over Simmons in crucial time.

Simmons can't shoot. The guy the Celtics drafted that year shined in the the Rookie-Sophmore All-Star game above all others, has 2 30 point games in the playoffs, came off the bench to play better than Simmons while having a hamstring injury. And is a more complete 2 way player. But Simmons was chosen #1 and is the annointed star.

I think Simmons will still be a star in this league.

But Lebron 2.0 with a jump shot? LOL.

I really do not see the big deal about Simmons. He isn’t that good. This crap has been so overhyped.

It's been two games, guys, with the most recent one hardly being an easy victory, to say the least. Everybody calm down, lol.

Can I trademark the PROCESS THAT!  saying? I can see all sorts of memes with Sixer players looking stupid while the saying "Process That" reads across the screen.

I recall watching him earlier in the season and coming away unimpressed.  I watched him a few times later and came away very impressed with some of his scoring around the basket, even with his flaws.

The biggest flaw I see is that he does not have "it".  I don't see killer instinct.  I don't see someone who would demand the ball in the final minute of the 4th and make a play.  I see someone whose confidence fades if the game isn't going his way.  And you either have "it" or you don't.

I'm not impressed with his assist numbers either.  He has good vision, but his playmaking ability is nowhere near the level of an elite passing PG, such as Rondo or Chris Paul.  Overall his halfcourt playmaking skills aren't that impressive.  In transition obviously is a different story, but if you're able to take that away then you've basically neutralized him.

He’s a stats padder and easily exploited. I wouldn’t trade Tatum or brown for him. He cannot score unless it’s a dunk. He’s no LeBron. LeBron could score from all levels and hit people like a truck. Simmons has no purpose in a half court offense.

We're gonna find out what Simmons is made up of on Saturday.  I'd be shocked if he wasn't more aggressive, a bit a more selfish, and way more assertive.

What more can he do? If we're getting back in transition he has no functionality in the NBA. Marcus Smart is his kryptonite because of his superior lateral movement. Basically Ben is going to have to knock him over if he wants dunks (the only way he can score). This isn't Giannis that can Eurostep 4 feet to the other side at any moment and do a finger roll from 10 feet away. And he can't just shoot over Smart because he has no shot. You have to be able to shoot in the NBA. They're playing 4v5 on offense, and he can't guard Rozier on defense. So, again, what is his function in this series?

This is what I'm thinking. He's not going to go 0-4 in Philly. He had an entire season where he put up all star numbers. He'll be a different player when he's back home. The Celtics will have to be ready.

TP for article. I thought the following quote was interesting to read:

" Something to keep in the back of your mind but not necessarily overreact to — you are seeing some of the limitations of the lineups the Sixers play against a smaller team with more ability to punish you with speed and athleticism. There have been some reminders of the difficulties facing Dario Saric as a high-level contributor in these playoffs, primarily when he's late or out of place for a defensive rotation."

Playing Giannis first round was the best thing for this team. Really taken our defensive commitment to a higher level. Makes game-planning vs. guys like Simmons, even Embid, easy by comparison.
