and so ends the Noel in Dallas saga.  After such a promising rookie year, his career really fell off the tracks (and turning down that 4 year, 70 million dollar contract from the Mavs looks even worse now).  Hopefully he gets it figured out, but this could be a pretty sad case.

It seemed like one of the key reasons he didnt sign that extension was bc he didnt want to play for Dallas org/under Carlisle

Now this suspension certainly doesnt help things moving fwd

But he still can make things right as long as he keeps clean

This is like the 3rd or 4th time he's popped dirty. Dude is a low life and a few people here pointed that out with the way he lives his life when everyone wanted him in Boston.

Some people make bad life decisions and sometimes those people are talented so they get by just fine for awhile. I wouldn't want him anywhere near my locker room.

Really? Because he smoked some weed? What terrible thing did he do next? Played some video games and ate a bag of chips?

Seriously, I would much prefer someone who smokes pot to a guy who goes out drinking all night, which is allowed.

The league need to change that rule. It's just plain stupid. It's legal in many states now, as more and more people realize the absurdity of arresting someone for that.

This kid badly needs a mentor who will hold him accountable. Right now, he’s immature and lacks discipline.

If the worst thing he's doing is smoking some weed, then he really just needs to learn to stop failing drug tests, which I assume are gonna get more frequent after multiple failures.

My concern is that smoking weed isn't the worst thing he's doing, it's just what he's getting caught for. Or that it's symptomatic of general personality/attitude issues.

This is going to hurt his free agent stock, especially if there are rumors about worse stuff floating around. From a purely team-centered perspective, that might mean we could nab him for the MLE, which is an underpay for his talent. But the downside is the possible effects of signing up a problem player, who's alienated at least one and probably both teams he's played for. I know he's from the Boston area, but that could either be stabilizing or put him around any bad influences from his past. Either way, I hope he turns his career around, it looks a whole lot less rosy than it did 2-3 years ago.
