How Good Is This Team of Injured Players?

In last night's win over Utah, the Celtics were missing Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Morris, and Al Horford (among others).

My question is, given an average bench, how many games would this starting lineup win in the NBA? 45? 55? 60?

TP for a good idea - I have thought the same thing in recent weeks.

That is a 60 win team with a 'decent' bench (might as well throw Theis into the equation) and 1st in the Eastern Conference. They would also stand a decent chance against the West representative, but wouldn't be favored.

And saying this is not that far-fetched. That easily could be our starting line-up this year; it's just that Jaylen and Jayson proved their worth and Stevens gave them the push they needed/deserved. It really is unbelievable how injuries ravaged our season, but I guess it's not impossible that guys return just in time to keep us moving forward. The power of 'hope!'

You can have a pretty good injured all star game if you take league wide injuries .

The all time all-injured team. That's definitely a 55+ win team

For this exercise, Tatum and Brown aren't on the bench but either would be the best player on said bench.

On paper, that's a deep lottery team.  Is there a worse set of bigs in the NBA?

And yet, somehow, Stevens would have them winning 35 - 40 games, haha.

Well, they won 53 last year with a very limited Brown and without Tatum entirely. I'll say that Irving and IT cancel each other out since IT was so good last year, but then we are adding Hayward to the mix. The proposed starting line-up would be about as effective as one that includes Brown and Tatum, but without the future potential.

I do think the bench would have to be decent to get to that 60 number. Smart and Morris are probably our two best bench players so we would need to replace them with players of a similar caliber.
