It was not the last second three pointer but a drive down the lane to a euro step floater and maybe off wrong foot-whatever it was, it was impressive
Those deep threes really things of beauty nothing but net-
Brown and Tatum why bother looking elsewhere

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about what they can do as a tandem for the Celtics for a long time, hopefully.

It's really the best move for all parties involved. Hope they're both here to stay.

The Celtics teams of the 80's were built around Bird but Mc'Hale acted as the pressure release valve. They were both tall, coordinated, well rounded scorers but they had enough variance between their games and personalities to compliment each other throughout their careers.

We're seeing something similar with Jaylen and Jayson. Nobody questions that Jayson is the more polished scorer but Jaylen brings his own 'it' factor that can allow him to perform in situations that Jayson might not be as well suited for.

Jaylen wants to be one of the faces of the league and will seek out chances to prove himself. Jayson seems like he's already arrived through the same dedication and love for the game that he's had since he was a kid. It's like Jayson stays at a solid 8 to 9 where Jaylen can range from something like 7 to 10.  IMO it's a potentially great dichotomy to build your team around.

Agreed. I know they are being noticed but at the same time under looked.  NBA talking heads look at Embiid and Simmons as the next transcending stars. I'm not sure how you can't look at Tatum/Brown with the mindset.

Left handed finish over Gobert, a thing of beauty.

This is turning into a case study of what can happen when high, talented, young draft picks enter a stable franchise with a winning mindset. So far the results are positive.

Our baby C's are growing up every game. JB has really turned up the volume since all-star break. This is very exciting!!!

Jaylen Brown has carried this team at times.  His buzzer beating game winner is another example.  It's incredible to see how he has grown in just under 2 seasons of NBA experience.

Tatum hasn't been afraid to carry the load either.  This is how the Celtics keep winning despite all the injuries.  Somebody always steps out.  One night it will be Jay-Jay duo another it will be Rozier or Morris or even Monroe.

It's mostly been Marcus Morris, though.

I'm usually a positive fanboy, but I am genuinely surprised at Jaylen's game now. I was satisfied with the pick (although I think I wanted that Dunn/Butler deal). Jaylen might be better than Jimmy Butler, early days but he's projecting at least similar..

It's hard to come up with a player comparison. He's getting to the line far more often than I ever thought he would.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Who would have thought with so many capital letters in the title this would be a rollie thread??  ;)

But, yeah, Jaylen was killing it last night and so was Tatum. With the team struggling early on, it was great to see these two take the reins and show us a glimpse of the future. And after a great team comeback, Jaylen put the exclamation point on another thrilling game!

I have really been impressed with Brown's shot.  You can tell he has put in a lot of work and his shot is looking more and more fluid and natural.  With having to respect his outside shooting, this really opens up the drive for him and with his improved free throw shooting, I believe he will continue to become a very good offensive player.  Add to that the fact that he works very hard on defense and has great length and strength defensively and that makes him even more valuable because he can impact the game on both sides of the ball.  I am excited about him!
