Kawhi is better than Hayward and I'd rather have Randle, but there is no way I'd make that trade if I was the Celtics.  None at all.

I'm confused you rather have Kawhi and Randle over the other 2 but you wouldn't make the deal?

You just checking to see if anyone is paying attention?  :P

He's basically just admitting that he has a heart and therefore wouldn't make a great GM

I doubt CBS would do it, we have an inkling of when Hayward is coming back and what condition, Kawhi is a big question mark...

 :police: Stop!

This is a trade that could only happen in a video game or in trade machine. There is no reason for these deals to happen. I don't agree with your player valuations, but that isn't my main problem here. If we use your valuations this is like trading picks 8 and 25 for picks 1 and 60, nobody is giving up first pick in any draft for that regardless of salary, and nobody is giving up a top 5 player for a top 20 one.

Nah man, we do.

I couldn’t make this trade. Hayward gave us a boon by signing with us, and the season has I’m sure been very hard for him, in nuanced levels of pain. Trading him is a bridge too far.

But..so was trading IT, Avery, and Crowder. Literally would not have pulled the trigger on any of those.

Danny Ainge is a sociopath as a GM. As a father, son, brother, friend, I bet he’s just the tops. Couldn’t ask for a better guy. But as a GM? He is Hannibal Lecter.

And I bet Kawhi looks pretty tasty to a person like that.
IT, Avery, and Crowder all not free agent, we trade or draft them, HUGE difference

Nope. It's all the same stuff. Do you make trade decisions with the only goal being to make your team better, or, are you a person who has feelings when it comes to being a GM.

Danny 'Hannibal' Ainge doesn't have those feelings. He understands them and he'll use them from other people if he needs to, but he doesn't have them.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

Kawhi has 2 years left on his current deal after this year.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If a Kawhi/Randle deal became available using only Hayward and Morris, you better believe Ainge would jump on it. I realize it would paint a very bad picture for agents/FAs, but does it really matter when you have an elite team with no cap space to come for years? Throw in a Horford/Jaylen/Sac pick deal for AD and you have an unstoppable core for years to come.

I realize in saying this it sounds like I am not excited to have Hayward on the Cs - I really am! But, Kawhi is definitely better than Hayward and you have to take these kinds of deals when they are offered. In this case, I see no way it is.

I think the second is a player option at $21m.

because the Danny would never land another free agent and he would alienate the entire league (including mkst of the coaches and players).  You  can't sign a max free agent and then trade him the following summer after he gets hurt 5 minutes into his contract unless and only unless he specifically as is to be traded.  It is team suicide to do that
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Come on now, you don't actually think trading a player acquired by trade or draft pick is the same as trading a player you signed as a free agent?

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous.

If DA did this Boston would surely be saddled forever as player unfriendly .  To much social media this day and age to do this anymore.  Within hours of such trade the whole world would be showering hate down on Boston.....like we launched a nuke or something.

not worth it .

Respectfully disagree Shaq. If Ainge deems the trade a big win for the Celtics we make the trade.
