He's learning to regulate his speed better. Against the Hawks he had a nice coast-to-coast play where he basically jogged up until he got almost to the 3-point line and then turned on the jets. Last year (and even the beginning of this year) I think he would've tried to outrun everyone to the basket, causing the defense to collapse on him early and then try an impossible shot. He's learning how to work smarter, which is great.
The better he gets at reading defenses, the more effective he'll be. We're already seeing it this season. Hopefully it continues.
Agree. I think he is just starting out how to use his good edge in athleticism to his advantage. He should study Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant tapes. The kid has that kind of athleticism.
That's a good call because Kobe and MJ had great footwork for wings. With Jaylen's size and quickness, he could be a monster in the post against either smaller guys or bigger, slower guys.
