Tough situation, but then again - who among us would go to a new job and immediately start talking badly about coworkers and management after being on a sick leave for several months and while doing a pretty poor yourself? That's just not how you act.

The biggest thing that put me off Isaiah during his Celtics tenure was his contract talk. Not even legit max players talk about that. Then he goes to Cleveland where you COULD just be positive, say we gotta come together, I got Coach Lue's back, I'm here to win, I want the team to play well, it's on all of us... etc., pick your team cliche quote. Instead he's just constant negativity. What does he expect?

I hope LA buys him out.   I want to root for IT.    :'(

Buying him out would be awesome.  Imagine if he re-signed with the Celtics to be a sixth man off the bench instead of trading for Tyreke.  If that were to happen, I'll dance in the streets.

IT4 won't accept such role especially with what happened the past 2 seasons

If the Celts bring him back, he might have an emotional breakdown also

its better the two parties stay separate moving fwd

I would bring him back.   Let him find his groove again.  Can't think of a better team for him to find his game again and re-establish his value.

IT4 from the moment he played his first game...things went downhill fast

He was blaming teammates (love). He was getting blamed.   Such a poor fit alongside Lebron..

He called out Lue

HE has to just be quiet... I don't care if he was raised to speak up...sometimes  :-X in life is better. Especially for him moving fwd

We're not talking about a full season.  Just a couple months and the playoffs.

Actually, would we even be allowed to sign him if in fact he his bought out?

yes but you don't think there will be tension between him and Kyrie?

What happens when IT4 is benched in the 4th for Brown and Irving backcourt?

Can he take it?

I think it’s reasonable if you were forced to transfer to a new branch, you would compare it to your last one. And if it seemed completely dysfunctional, you would certainly say “that’s not how we did it over there” to people.

I did think IT was a little too brazen in his comments to the media, but I also think he put on a facade and was never truly happy about being in Cleveland. Unfortunately for him, he’s going to feel like a rental in LA and probably not be happy there. I wanna root for him but it’s the Lakers, they need to lose out.

It’s sad because he was on top of the world just 10 months ago heading into the playoffs. The talks of a max contract and being an MVP and now look where he is. I sincerely hope he gets his big contract that he deserves from someone (maybe Philly?).

Good luck, little guy. I hope you score 40 a game in LA but lose every one  :P

I think he fits really well in LA. It makes sense for both teams. Let him go ball out for the rest of the season and get a big deal somewhere else. Lakers don’t care if they win since they don’t have their pick, and they just created a ton of cap space.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

I felt indifference for him (as a basketball player) once he was traded to the Cavs.   Since he will be a Laker once the deal is official, I now despise him and hope that his game continues to suffer.  I feel no compassion (on the court) for Lakers.

I have felt bad for him all along, when traded, when he struggled with CLE, and now that he is essentially being dumped by CLE.  He didn't do anything to deserve any of this but it is part of getting the big bucks in the NBA.

I hope he returns to form while with the Lakers.  I know that this helps the Lakers and hurts our pick in the short term but the SAC pick next season will be better anyway.  And I am not sure the Lakers are better after this.  Frye and the pick don't help them at all this year and depending on the hip, IT may not either.  This is a shed salary and tank move for the Lakers.

The only reason that I can see why the Lakers would do this trade is that they are clearing salary (in particular Clarkson's).  Seems like this is setting them up to sign Lebron.  This whole deal seems very strange to me.

I agree with almost everything you said here except for one thing: I truly believe that IT's persistent Brinks truck comments are the reason he got traded. Those comments scared the Celltics. Danny was never giving IT a max contract, so he had to cut his losses and take what he could get before IT became a FA (it turned that we got Kyrie for him which was a no-brainer for everyone except Michael Holley). I love IT and he was great here, but giving him a max contract would have been a team building nightmare.

With that said, I have felt bad for him since the day the trade was announced. He gave us everything he had, and he genuinely seemed to embrace the city so I was sad to see him go.

I'd have to say now the injury is huge, which we are seeing him still not recovered from.

Of course that was a long term factor as well but I think we are seeing how bad the injury looked and how much that can hurt a player like him and then that of course ties into the contract as well.
