To be honest,  I don’t know much about Willy Hernangomez but I’ve seen his name a few times on this site.  Are there any Hernangomez fans ?

Does he make sense even though we just signed Monroe ?

I think we should explore a trade for him.  We need a cost controlled long term center since Monroe and Baynes are both free agents at the end of this season.

I'd love that Willy.

He played pretty well as a rookie last year.  I have no idea why he isn't playing this year.  Not sure if that is a red flag or just the Knicks being the Knicks.

I wouldn't give up much for him, but he is certainly more deserving of a roster spot then someone like Nader.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

We don't need Horford, Baynes, Theis, Monroe, AND Willy.

We've got plenty of traditional bigs already.

Generally speaking, I would say that the Celts should not invest any significant resources into acquiring a center unless that center is a star who can impact the game on both ends.  The market for centers these days is such that you can probably always find a useful contributor for relatively little $$.

Baynes, Theis, and Monroe are good examples of several different avenues for this (NBA veteran, undrafted foreign FAs, buy-out market).

I would like it but NY is giving up Hernangomez plus a #1 for an expiring Smart? I don't see why they would do that.

But remembering that the owner hasn't changed.   It is not like they Knicks only started making bad trade when Phil got there.  It has been a tradition since they traded away Ewing.

Wrong Hernangomez IMO. Should be targeting the one in Denver.

If you take out that NY 1st, which I think The Celtics only want a 1st so they can trade it for Evans anyway, I think that's a decent trade.

The one Danny wanted to trade up to draft in 2016 but couldn’t, and who wound up going a pick before Yabusele?  I’m on board, I think Ainge is too, but I don’t think he’s on the bargain acquisition list.

He's a good player that hopefully gets an opportunity elsewhere for the sake of my fantasy team.  I wonder if KP's injury will impact the Knicks decision to move him now.

Excellent point, it'll be interesting to see.  He has shown that he's a capable and high IQ player.

I don't know much about either, and neither's stats look impressive. Can anyone enlighten me?
