Problem with Lou Williams is simply the $7M salary. Hard to match.

And no, trading Morris or Smart in a deal for Lou Williams won't be as big of an upgrade as people believe, especially with Lou Williams likely to have limited minutes if he came here.

My heart wants Lou Williams, but my realistic mind wants Tyreke, though I like Tyreke a lot as well (not saying that to bash him or anything).
Baynes works straight up for Lou.  Does getting Monroe make Baynes expendable?  Other than against Philly.  I don't think Baynes would play that much.  Yab and Rozier also work but would Ainge trade Rozier?

Lou makes a little too much to work.  Baynes can bring back a shade under $6.6 million.  Lou makes $7 million.  Rozier and Yabu also doesn’t work.  (If you’re trying it in trade machine, it says it works because we haven’t technically used our DPE on Monroe as of this hour, so trade machine still has it in there and that’s what allows the deal to work.)

That's pretty much why Tyreke is the wiser target talent wise AND $$$ wise.

Pick + any player (young/cheap) gets the job done.

With Lou Williams it becomes an issue matching salary now that DPE is used and they aren't trading Baynes, Smart, Rozier in any deal.

If we get Lou and tyreke we're going to the NBA finals.  Quote me on that.

I believe Cs are going to the finals regardless of any other moves Danny makes this year.

Agree, if we get a healthy focused Marcus smart back and the rest of the roster is relatively healthy we make the finals with the addition of Monroe. This is not even counting Hayward returning.

I don't really think we want to go back to covering defensively for an offense only player. This may be fine during the regular season but playoff time it will be exploited by better teams.

If Danny  feels we need the depth then make a trade. Just don't give up too much.

Hard to make a realistic trade for Lou Williams - Yabusele, Larkin and Nader was the closest I got, and I can't make a good argument for why the Clippers should make that deal.

Evans, on the other hand, can be matched with only Yabusele. Give them the 2019 Clippers pick too. I think the Clippers pick is close to worthless (because it is unlikely to convey for anything other than a 2022 second), but they'd be able to say that they got a theoretical first rounder for him.

I think this deadline is going to be WILD overall.

Not just the C's who have already added Monroe and could add either Tyreke/Lou, BUT it will be interesting to see what CLE does. What do the Clippers do? Is Kemba available? Cavs already done with Isaiah? Aaron Gordon? Could the Blazers actually listen in on offers for Lilliard/McCollum? Whiteside available for the right price?

I mean, who predicted Blake Griffin would be traded by now after signing that contract? NO ONE.

Trade deadline in 5 days, expect a TON of rumors to surface starting this Monday. And it may be only one regular season game, but you have to imagine another home blowout loss for the Cavaliers on national TV tonight (this time to the Rockets) would really make things ugly for that organization.

Strongly agree with johnnygreen’s post.  And, if Hayward is able to make a comeback this year (wishful thinking), our bench would extend leads.  Go Danny!

He can't come back if we use DPE, which obviously we will.

Williams for Smart and a pick.

Why would we add a pick if we are sending Smart? That's an unnecessary overpay

Tyreke is kind of the ideal Brad Stevens player. Think Evan Turner but Tyreke finally added that 3-pointer Turner never did. The idea of Tyreke running the second unit offense is pretty exciting.

And would you look at that. Now Smart may be available in a trade.

Guess this deadline won't be as "boring" as we thought even for the C's (although I hope they don't trade Smart and keep him long term)
