It must be a German state secret  but nobody lists his wingspan. They talk about athleticism but his real weapon is a deceptive standing reach.
Theis is undersized for his position, doesn't seem to have explosive vertical but dunks with ease and blocks shots.Recently he has been blocking some shots with just his standing reach..
I think players misjudge his length as it is deceptive.
Theis has been a steal so far and benefits from long euro season. The first half of season was the adjusting to new team,a new team with new players, even more difficult,a new country and NBA rules speed and strength.
Theis also suffers from rookie calls which may end in playoffs with the increased physicality Theis has had a strong January and even better  the last two weeks. It is showing up in his outside shooting not just percentage but in lack of hesitation.

Now this is getting ahead but with an off season of NBA weight training and drills
An off season of shooting and working on offensive moves could Theis come back physically stronger and with improved lateral, vertical?.Hopefully the level of NBA training and coaching is superior to German league.
Many NBA players transform themselves at his age as they enter prime.
With his having no NBA off season this year or in past and with the work ethic of our young players is it possible for Theis to make a dramatic jump
He seems to have the physique that can pack on some NBA muscle/mass that would benefit his game.
Does Euro league have off season emphasis of NBA strength and skills training?
.Are there any comps for older euro rookies and 2nd year.?
What is Theis's ceiling? Can he develop an offensive game?

.

Hey Daniel, if you haven't done so already, adopt the work ethic of your fellow countryman Dirk and you will be a success.

I absolutely love this guy!  Is he under the contract for next season or are we at risk of losing him after the season?  He must remain a Celtic.

He makes 815k this year and 1.3 mill next year. What a steal. What effort he gives.

He has a great WS, he makes you turn your head on some blocks and rebounds.
Kinda like: "Oh, nice, he got that one after all!"

Great small ball big!
He hustles, shoots from the outside, rebounds outside his area and also in the crowd, is always in good spirits, thinks fast, gives us dieses Deutches "zum arbeit" flavour, still fairly young, won't complain.

Der, die oder das.
I absolutely love Herr Theis.

Just googled euro off season they seem very professional and committed .Their preseason is much longer than NBA
I feel a bit embarrassed that i thought that euros were in dark ages.
Porzingis re-enforced this with his marveling at workout facilities.

And living in England your lucky to have a wood court- forget weight rooms and the pro league here was playing for pizzas in small gyms
My son played Premier league over here for a top ranked squad that was consistently playing in final four and it was and is like dark ages -they even cut funding for England basketball.

TP Slightly Biased-declassify
-just get a tape measure somebody
or is there a computer  program that can figure it out

For a team that's almost definitely going to be in the luxury tax next season, what Ainge has done here with Theis is almost robbery. Big man who can rebound, guard the rim, switch on the perimeter, catch lobs at the rim, and shoot the 3? For 815k? Um, yes.

Amen, brotha. And I remember during the off-season I was like “why are we wasting a roster spot on some unknown big named Daniel Thee-iss?” (Can’t read/speak German). I thought for sure an undrafted PF/C from an arguably 2nd tier Euro league would either be a project or simply outmatched.

Love Theis, what he brings to the table, and the huge value derived from the bargain cost of his services.

Theis, Theis baby.

Theis' arms are of variable length. They are however long they need to be at a given time.

Years ago, I remember reading rumors out of SG Braunschweig that Theis' urine consists of approximately 96% penicillin.  Back in October, he was seen levetating outside of a Dunkin Donuts in Woostah, which seems to corroborate the antibiotic rumor.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
He's pretty much Baby Birdman so he's probably a bit shy of Andersen's 84 inch wingspan. But it is odd we don't have the info; maybe we've been spoiled by draft sites.

50% from 3pt in January.

He is playing with a lot of confidence and you can tell the other guys have increasing confidence in him too.
