We got some bad press among players for the IT trade. Suspending Marcus would just play into the narrative that the Celts are cutthroat and not player friendly.

Also, suspending him hurts us too.

Repeat offender deserves a fine, though.....don't think players would be too judgmental about that.

It probably doesn't make sense to suspend Smart for any amount of games in addition to the games he will miss due to injury, that would just further 'hurt' the team.  It might make sense, however, to fine him for 'conduct detrimental to the team' seeing as how this was a self-inflicted injury.

I don't want to attract the kind of player that would have a problem with suspending an idiot player like Marcus Smart.

Punishing smart would be ridiculous.  It was a spur of the moment accident.  Not the same as a guy that rides a motorcycle (for example) and gets hurt; a guy that is knowingly doing something dangerous that is likely spelled out in his contract.

For someone like smart, missing these games is punishment enough.
