Yeah, I honestly am not seeing the Lakers Pick conveying to us this year.

The odds were not super high to begin with, but the Lakers have been playing really well as of late, and even if they go on a long losing streak, we need to rely on a bunch of other bottom teams to start winning soon, and most of them probably will decide to tank the rest of the way. Lakers, meanwhile, have no incentive to tank, and are in a bit of a logjam already with teams like the Nets, Bulls, Hornets, Jazz, etc., and those teams could decide to tank as well.

It's unfortunate, since this was a draft that could have yielded us a franchise-chasing big man (Ayton, Bagley, Bamba), or a legitimate scorer in Doncic or Porter (assuming health).

Does anyone know how the early projections of the 2019 Draft look? And it's likely #KingsPickWatch since Sixers definitely won't be a horrible team next year (they will be a playoff team, like they are this season as well).

They had ups and downs . Hopefully they will finish with a down.
There’s also a could possiblty they will get rid of key players to clear cap space.

The 2019 draft currently has several wings at the top and looks a lot less promising IMO, relative to this draft and the last one.

If the Lakers pick doesn't convey, I'd make an attempt to package that Kings pick and get back into the top of the 2018 draft.  Not sure if it's feasible, but it's worth a shot.

It's also worth recalling that the Kings pick is top 1 protected, and it appears very possible that they're the worst team in the NBA next year.  If they end up with the top pick, Philly keeps it and we get Philly's pick which will likely be in the ~20 range.  This is the part that I DIDN'T like about the trade down.  I always liked Tatum (though I liked Fultz too), and I was on board with the idea of trading down and picking up a good asset to select the guy we wanted in the first place.  But these protections are too [dang]ed chancy for me.

I feel like this is the key to just how poorly they finish.

Top 3 worst teams in 2019 will have the same odds (14%) for the #1 pick. At worst the pick will have an 86% chance of conveying.

I doubt we could get Ayton, Doncic, or Bagley, given that it’d cost too much, but I could see us trading up to get someone like Bamba at 4 or 5 if the right team is there.

Oh, for real?  Didn't know about that rule change.  That makes me feel a little bit better about that pick, then.

Isn't the 2019 Kings pick #1 protected?

We just need Lonzo to come back.

They are due for a 13-losses-in-15-games type of run.

I think it is too early to be moving on from the Lakers pick.  They have been playing well lately, but they also might be shopping players to clear cap room for next summer.

I am still hopeful that we get the lakers pick this year.  Good draft to find a young athletic big to groom into our rotation.  I think our prime years are going to be next year and the following 2 years.  Draft a rotation ready big in this draft, get GH back and get ready for our title runs.

agree its early to give up on the Lakers pick.

With that being said early projections seem to point to the following players as the elite guys for 2019. The players I do not have much information on I left blank.

Barrett SG going to Duke,

Williams F going to Duke, a freak who it will be very interesting to see play big time D1 basketball. Best comparison I can think of for Williams would be a 6'6 Yabusele with Lebron explosiveness or a Young Charles Barkley. He will take position less basketball to a different place as he really doesn't have a natural position.

Reddish SF going to Duke

Reid PF/C going to LSU, from what I have seen and read I really like Reid out of that group. He appears to be all of the 6'9-6'10 he is listed at and at least 240lbs with above average explosiveness for his size.

Bol Bol going to Oregon, Manute's son listed at 7'2 and he is all of that with a super long wingspan. Very skilled but time will tell if he is strong enough to contribute in NBA.

Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

The Lakers aren't going to make the playoffs so there's always a chance they hit 2 or 3 in the lottery. This would obviously be best case scenario because it sets us up to get Ayton, Bagley or Bamba.

If we end up getting the Kings pick in 2019 then give me Bol Bol and Shareef O'Neal and I'd be a happy Celtics fan.

Unfortunately that Kyrie trade now looks iffy again because Nets Pick may end up better than Lakers Pick (likely conveying to PHI between 7-10)...  :o

They are also drawing for the top 4 picks so the team with the worst record could drop to 5th.
