  • That's turrible
How do you guys think the players with the skill sets they had on that 08 team, given the skill sets they each had, Be utilized in Brads system? Which player do you think would surpringl excel or suck in the system?

Well, I'll say this.

If we had CBS instead of Doc for that entire Big 3 Era (2008-2013), I feel confident that we'd have 2 titles in that span, probably even 3. Even with some of the injuries suffered some years.

I seriously doubt Brad would have been able to handle that lockeroom, especially at the age he would have been in 2007-08.

Paul, Kevin, Ray, and Rajon all had very big egos, and it required a coach with considerable cache amongst the players to pull of what the Celtics did.

Yeah, not sure Stevens would have gotten the respect from the vets that Doc did. In 2007-08. I also am not sure that being as inexperienced as he was as a head coach, that he could have gotten his players to buy into sacrificing their stats and games for the greater good. Hard to,see Stevens winning a title with that group.

You've got to take the Stevens of 2008 as well.  As smart as he is i feel it would have been unfair to stevens a coach fresh from college to plunge into a playoff race.  Besides injuries more than coaching did us in against the lakers

The current Stevens would get the respect of the Big 3. A 31 year old Stevens is too young and inexperienced for an NBA standard.

Why do people say that we would be getting 08 Stevens? The hypothetical is that today's Stevens is coaching the 08 squad with the team using his System instead of Doc's. All this talk of "not getting respect" is nonsense when we are just theorizing how would the team fare with the System. Also it is not a foregone conclusion that he would lose the lockerroom if he coached then.

When you say "how would Larry Bird perform with today's Celtics", you are not assuming it would be 61 year old Larry Bird.

Put a prime Larry Bird on today's Celtics?  Yeah we would break the Warriors record and then sweep them in the finals.  But that's LaLa land fantasy.  We don't live in Levar Ball's world.  And thank goodness for that!

73-9.

Sweep Atlanta. Sweep Cleveland. Sweep Detroit. Sweep LA Lakers.

That is, if we have Brad Stevens' current knowledge.

And I also like to think of that '08 run was Tom Thibs' operating as an assistant coach. His defensive guru mindset allowed lengthy playoff runs between '08-10.

Stevens may have still had a year of college eligibility at that point

Forget 08 because we will will that one even with a caveman coaching the team.

How bout 2010?...the biggest what if of them all, we could have won that game 7 but Doc ran the team to the ground. They had nothing left and the Fakers capitalized. Stevens always managed his player's minutes well so I think that would have been the biggest question.
