Especially considering that Hayward injury....we really needed to keep this guy.  He's just simply the best minimum contract I can think of since Shaq.  I was begging for us to sign him as injury insurance even when we had the Hayward/Crowder/Brown/Tatum logjam....and it turns out we needed that injury insurance a few minutes into our first game.

Semi has played 519 minutes.
Larkin 329.
Nader 151.
Yabu 79.

All rookies except for Larkin, who has played for 3 teams in his first 3 years, and then nobody last year.

Replace those with Green and we probably have 5 more wins.  Heck, we've got one more rookie Theis who has played another 500 minutes (some were really great, some were a miss) where we could have gone with Green/Tatum as the forwards.

I know Danny wanted to go young, but I just can't figure out why we've been at 14 players all this time, when this high-flying gunner who knows Brad's system was just chillin' in Boston watching us on his couch.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

He’s made 7 3-pters so far in this warriors game tonight. Think that’s more than naders nba career total

He can play but he can't guard like Semi.  Semi is very frustrating on offense to me but he shows really big time flashes and potential on defense.

True. When greens 3 isn’t hot, he’s probably a bet negative out there on the court with his poor defense

It's unfortunate that Green wasnt given the right role here. Glad he is succeeding still. But if BS wanted his bench to do something different and play more as a team, I can understand letting Green go.

Semi's D is beneficial, and Larkin has almost single-handedly won us several games already when the starters and other bench players were off.

But, yeah, I would've much preferred him to someone like Nader. With as many rookies and younger players that we already have in Tatum, Brown, Semi, Yabu, Rozier, Smart, and Larkin, I'm not sure why we couldn't spare Nader for someone like Green.

I think that is a good point, but would Green be willing to play for us if he was taking Naders role. Would he come play if he knew that he would play a few minutes here and there? On his new role with Houston, it looks like they want to play him and be a spark off the bench for them which I'm not sure would work with us.

I agree, there should have been a spot for Gerald on this team.

He’s not worth 5 more wins, though.

Agree that he's much better than Nader and better than Semi.  He would be a nice sparkplug on a second unit that could use one.  But no way would we be 5 wins better after 41 games.  That would make us 36-5.  We probably wouldn't be 5 wins better with a healthy Hayward, never mind a vet minimum player.

You are seriously devaluing the Defense of Semi and the ball pressure of Larkin.. Heck Larkin has been golden for us more times than not..

Nadar has been blah but he may still have some upside.. (not sure though)

Its fun watching this team play defense..

No way does GG give us 5 more games..   Watching him tonight in Houston and he was red hot.. 8 threes.. Zero Defensive plays..   Losing effort..

but you're right.. it was fun to watch.... (give me Semi/Larkin over Green All day)

I had hoped that the chemistry that green shared with Isaiah for the Suns would be rekindled-Green got injured a hip early and then Jaylen took minutes. But Green mentored Jaylen and was always playing late with the young guys Smart and Rozier a great teammate and always engaged on bench.
Averaging 21 pts over four games after not playing since pre season,no practice, new team and off the bench NOT easy thing to do

I think D'Antoni simplified the game for Green even further than the coaches before him.
ATM his offensive duties are:
- don't shoot the ball from behind the arc when you don't have it
&
- shoot the ball from behind the arc when you have it.

It is not like he expanded his game, it is simplified to the max and he is hitting his J.
