I think Semi should stop settling for spot up 3s and drive the ball. He's a good ballhandler and can do more than just spot up. I rarely ever see him take any mid-range shots or layups. He's a physical guy and he's letting defenders off the hook be not driving.
Except that he's not a particularly good ball handler, nor has he shown he can finish around the rim in the NBA.

I guess you never saw him at SMU. Ballhandling isn't always used to score...sometimes you just want the defense to move to open up someone else.

I'm not at all interested in what he did in college, especially in a minor conference against lesser competition. So far he has shown that by NBA standards he is a below average ball handler. That is all that matters.

He wasn't taking 3's the offense didn't want him to take.  he just missed them.  We know he's a good shooter from 3, but not ready to take them in the NBA yet.

Other than some missed screens on Korver, his defense was amazing, but our entire team couldn't deal with the Korver off ball screens.

Tonight he gets the opportunity to guard another unstoppable force. This  is a rookie guarding multiple positions with the ability for short periods to just halt superstars before they gain momentum or break momentum with his style change until they adapt
.Then its next man up.
Korver is difficult because he has specialized for years using screens for catch and shoot and those plays are designed and timed so well-to work.
Those wide open threes have to be taken and there is always a knee jerk reaction to the negative even when we know he can shoot,We know that at some point he will make those corner threes,We know that they are easily practiced,We know guarding superstars and multiple positions is difficult and We know Semi is a  rookie BUT it didn't stop me from" common Semi you gotta hit those" after three straight wide open corner misses. And my pushing back" it's only mid season of rookie year" and" its about development"!!-
He is now in the flow of game on offense and looks comfortable moving the ball ,he will adjust and improve his drives on closeouts and his defense should improve as refs allow him to play more physical against superstars-
Nobody brings up how careful he has to be in this area
Also Semi does not have elite wingspan that hinders steals in passing lane and puts him at disadvantage rebounding. But when the refs allow him to aggressively box out  that should improve.
As it is we got a 240lb beast playing on eggshells.
Can't wait for him not to just rely on skill and his lateral  but to be able to aggressively use his strength

Honestly... on a team with Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum the LAST thing they need Semi for is his offense.

Clearly Semi is there because he can play defense and perhaps most of all can switch on defense. It is not true, however, that his offense doesn't matter. The Celts play a style that tries to find open shots and whoever is open is encouraged to take the shot. That means Semi will be asked to shoot when he is open, so his ability to hit open shots is very important. So far he has not shown the ability shoot, if he does not improve that skill I expect he will not play very much once Hayward returns to the team.

If only Semi were half as good as you describe him. You act as though Semi is the only rookie that has to deal with the refs and that he can't be aggressive because of it. Those are just excuses. He only plays 14.4 minutes per game and averages just 1 foul per game. So clearly he can be a lot more aggressive and not have to worry about foul trouble. Besides, who really cares if he's in foul trouble anyways, it's not as though that's a game-changer? Again, these are just excuses to excuse his lack of motor.

Why is that "we know" he can shoot? We don't know if that's the case at all and his 29% 3pt shooting clearly says otherwise. Perhaps he doesn't have the range to consistently make NBA 3's, let's not forget that the college line is shorter. He could be like a TJ Warren who is a very good mid-to-long 2 shooter, but just can't hit the NBA 3.

Right now Semi is a No-3 & OK-D player despite all the romanticizing you do about "the Beast".

Hoops house and Drew Hanlon and his tryouts and summer league. Those were wide open corner threes. How do you know he can,t ,just like your comments on his combine scores.Obviously your obsessed with downing our rookie.
Our friend Green is averaging over 21 ppg over 4 games and in the high twenties the last two.
After not playing since pre season, new team and no practices-

Back to Semi he stopped Lebron cold after two shoulder barges didn't move him and Lebron kicked it out for a missed shot and a long rebound that Horford turned it into a Jaylen double pump dunk-
Drove Green right into a Baynes and a offensive foul, kept Tristan Thompson of the boards on weak side.Stayed right with Lebron forcing him to miss badly and had two steals.
Will see how he does the tonight .
There are no rookies being tasked to guard the stars-you have a stalking problem!!! and you will denigrate Celtic players in an attempt to prove what !!!romanticizing -are you some sicko!!!--
The fact he is playing important minutes as a rookie and not drawing many fouls against protected superstars seems to be eating you up after stating he "sucked"
Of course you think your smarter than Ainge and Brad.

Morris is out.looks like Semi just got a lot more important
