I'don't mind Tatum off the bench. I want to move most the bench now and upgrade starters looking to nect year.  Swing a deal for Cousins via Smart, Morris, Baynes picks and fillers. Then you need Tatum off the bench.

Irving, Brown, Hayward, Horford, Cousins.
Rozier, Tatum, Semi, Theis

Lakers pick hits and we rule the East next 5 years.

Tatum is getting better. Brown is going to keep improving (He’d Be this years big story for us if it weren’t for Tatum). They may no doubt be above average to potentially elite at some point. And they’re going to get better QUICK. This makes me wonder, how does Hayward fit into this? He definitely can’t come off the bench. Tatum and Brown will definitely get more touches next year. We need more big men and bench depth if anything.

Bad? You said nothing at all.

Do you really think NO would do that deal, I don't.  Take off the homer glasses.

Do you think the Celtics would do a deal for Cousins at all?

Depends on how Pelicans look as well as Grizz at deadline. I'd look to send the Grizz 1st and C's 1st. If Pelicans are in the playoff hunt then no way. But if they are out and worried about resigning Cousins why not explore a trade. Two first, Morris, Smart, and Baynes isn't a bad haul for half a season of Cousins.

He has all the skills to fit the system.

The Celtics had their chance at Cousins and couldhave owned him last year with the 2017 pick. They didn't even make an offer. There is zero chance the Celtics trade for a Cousins rental

What happens if we get Bagley or Ayton?  Good problems to have.

Wait wait wait. I mean....you need Marcus Smart for that team right there. He might be our 3rd best player.

... but will they make him a FA offer?  Not giving up players or picks changes the equation.

He is our third best player this year.

We win many less games without him.

The Celtics won't have any money for free agents beyond the MLE, I believe. They definitely won't be going after Cousins or any other big name free agent.

We all know Brad looks at positions as ball handlers, wings and bigs. So there's easily space for 3 wings. But let's break it down to typical positions.

Brown primarily plays the 2.
Hayward will play the 3.
Tatum will play the stretch 4.

No problem.

This.

I feel Tatum is most effective as a stretch 4, as he can give opponents all kinds of trouble with his outside shooting and his quickness / ball handling at that position.  Most NBA fours cannot defend him, yet he does a surprisingly good job of using his length to defend other fours.

Brown will play the SG spot, as he has done for the majority of this season.

Hayward will slip in to his natural SF spot.

Such a deadly lineup, because all three of those guys can guard 2, 3 and 4 spots so they can all switch on to each other's assignment seemlessly as needed.

It will also strengthen our second unit, as we will then have Rozier, Smart, Morris and Baynes permanently coming off the bench - and that's a pretty strong second unit on both ends of the court.

Smart our third best player?  Absolutely not.

Kyrie, Horford, Brown and Tatum have all been FAR better this year then Smart - and all four have had a greater impact on the win column as well.

Smart is MAYBE the 5th most important player on this team - and even that is a maybe, because you could easily make the argument that Rozier and Morris (when he's been on the court) have been better players this year.
