League 2 minute report just came out.

League confirmed that both offensive fouls on Harden were correct calls.

Noted the officials missed 5 travels, a lane violation, and a loose ball foul all within the last 60 seconds off the game and all going in favor of the Celtics.

So the Celtics should have been called on those, awarding the Rockets??

These two minute reports are all fine and dandy, but what is the point?

Do a report for the whole game. I’m sure they missed 50 travel calls and there is basically a lane violation every trip to the line. Loose ball foul? Literally every time you can call something.

You want to overturn all those calls in the last two minutes that get incorrectly called? Fine, let’s replay every game’s conclusion. Or would you like to fine the refs or punish them for missing calls?

The NBA needs to just go to 4 refs already, that would help immensely. Widen the parameters of instant replay. And don’t be afraid to change a call.

Sort of.  The last two minute reports frequently contain plays that are only observable with “enhanced video.”  The NBA does not classify these as missed calls — the traveling and lane violation were all of this variety.  They have full speed links at the NBA website, and having watched the replays, I can’t discern the travels.

The foul that was missed was on a loose ball in which the Rockets gained possession, and the Celtics immediately committed a take foul to stop the clock, so the miss had no impact.

FINALLY: James Harden, who gets more calls than a 1-800 number, finally got called for two late offensive fouls that allowed the Celtics to finish an incredible comeback in which they won the second half 61-36. JUSTICE.

Harden literally gets like 15-20 FTA per game and acts like he gets shot every time he drives and/or gets touched by a defender...  ::)

Not really true.

Those non-calls were the difference between Ariza going to the line and Tucker going to the line.

the calls were all fine imo. Just posted the info because it seemed relevant.

Yup. He's part of the current NBA culture that makes me not want to watch much NBA action apart from the Celtics. I understand that it's a star-driven league, but players shouldn't be allowed to initiate contact and get rewarded with free throws.

Pierce was the king of unearned free throws tho and I loved him

Completely disagree. While two refs is probably too few, four refs would just exacerbate the problem.

The refs need to be less involved in the game not more, which is exactly what having four refs would do. Let the grown men play.

Agreed, we don't want more ref involvement in the games, and we certainly don't want more video review. The main goal should be to get the calls right without slowing down the pace of the game. 3 refs works reasonable well. I'd actually be in favor of teaching the refs to call fewer fouls, err on the side of letting play continue. I wouldn't want a return to the 90's style of play, but I think we could strike a balance.

Have come to realize that violations, foul calls, etc. are relatively arbitrary in the NBA. If a hypothetical 10 different sets of refs were given the same last two minute scenario each might have blown their whistles differently.

Thus, my feeling is Harden is both right and wrong...depending who might have been calling the game at the time.

Could just be my green goggles, but I've always thought that no modern Celtic, including Pierce, ever got the superstar treatment (at least, not at the level of LeBron, MJ, Kobe, Wade, Harden).

This "Last 2-minute Report" that the league has installed is about the dumbest thing I ever heard of. "OK, at today's presser, we are going to review all the ways we screwed up in last nite's game."

All in the name of some PC transparency that Serpent-face dreamed up because I'm sure he thought it was stylish and cool. What a moron.
