What a pile of garbage.

That is so completely out of character for Bradley.

What does that even mean?

Clergy, churchgoers, cops, teachers, doctors, etc. rape and molest people. Not all bad guys go around with a black hat and a sneer.

I loved AB as a player, but I’ve got no idea what his demons are.  It sounds like he was involved in some behavior that isn’t exactly consistent with a devout family man’s, whether or not a sexual assault took place.

I find it very difficult to believe that Avery Bradley would rape someone is what it means.

Innocent until proven guilty.

The fact that the chick is an "instagram model" who apparently filmed the intercourse, but at the same time was drunk and passed out, tells me a lot of what I need to know.

What makes you think you know what kind of person Avery Bradley is at all?
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Clearly, he’s a high-character, devout Christian family man who has sex with Instagram models. Duh.

Lol the woman just wants his money.

Sounds like he willingly gave her a lot of it to keep her quiet, too.

With absolutely no details about the allegations, why would you assume she’s lying?
Because apparently (assuming this is correct) she settled for money.  To me that essentially tells me that she doesn't really believe that his conduct rises to criminal on any level because she didn't pursue it criminally. If you don't pursue it in a court you're telling me you either don't really think it's all that bad or that you don't desire to be cross examined.

Further I seriously doubt that he is the one that violated the confidentiality agreement. That tells me that she basically extorted him for money in order to keep quiet and then couldn't even do that, which means she is not to be trusted.

That's how.

How do you know either of the parties leaked anything? Maybe it was somebody inone of the lawyers’ offices making some quick TMZ cash, for instance.

And, there are a ton of reasons women don’t prosecute sexual assault cases. Having their names smeared publicly is one of them. Apparently this woman has some sort of reality TV career. Perhaps she doesn’t want to be identified as a rape victim for the rest of her life.

The world view that “if a woman alleges bad behavior against a rich man, she must be after his money” is sexist and elitist, and is part of the reason that so many powerful men feel enabled.

Why not wait for facts, instead of making wild assumptions about either AB or the alleged victim?

Good post. Now lock this thread. Too many people assume every allegation is true.

The majority of people around the NBA and outside it that have publically endorsed him as one of the most kind-hearted, gentle people they've ever talked to or spent time with.

More than happy to listen to any proof you have of the contrary.

The large difference between having consensual sex with someone and raping them is something you very clearly can't discern.

I have some questions that hopefully someone with a better degree than I can answer for me?

1) If the woman does not say "No" can an assault occur?

2) The woman has reported that she was "too inebriated," which may be true. But what if Avery was inebriated also? How can Avery give consent if both parties were under the influence?

Thanks!

1) Yes, absolutely. If she’s unable to give effective consent, it can be a crime.  The most obvious example is sex with a sleeping person, but there are plenty of others;

2) Legally, all that matters is if the woman can give valid consent. In reality, few prosecutors would bring charges, and fewer juries would convict, if two adults got drunk together and had sex. Facts to consider: did the male spike the woman’s drink, how coherent was the female, had the two had sex before, was there any element of force, etc.

As far as who would’ve leaked the story.  We also have to consider there might be a third party involved, specifically someone would take a cell phone video or picture.  We automatically assume this took place behind closed doors, how many of us have been to a party where someone passes out on a couch, and people think it’s hilarious to put them in weird or compromising positions, write or draw on their face, etc.

It doesn’t have to be a secretary or intern in an office.  It could just be someone who was involved and not bound by the agreement

This just strikes me as really different than say the Rothlisburger thing. That woman was held behind a locked door with guards and went to the police within 24 hours I thought.

I see this as hush money at absolute worst and hush money isn't sexual assault.

Do you have a picture/video of him touching or kissing you at a club?

Because all you really need is one compromising picture/video, and then he has to pay you or have his family find out.

It never even had to go further than that one kiss.

Hush money could be sexual assault. Look at all the Weinstein stuff.

If he hid this from his wife, I wonder if Bradley's wife found out and leaked this out in anger.

If we (who know nothing) are going to do baseless speculation, then we might as well
do it based on character. So Avery is totally clean in my book.

Some rich athletes are abusers. Others are easily exploited by hot women.
Based on character I'll assume Avery is innocent until there is proof
of something else.  This seems like common sense to me.  What reason is there
to assume/predict guilt???

Paying to protect one's reputation when you have the money to easily do it is not a crime.
If I were a public figure I'd pay a few pennies to protect my reputation too.

Best case, isn’t he cheating on his wife? Is that consistent with his perceived character?
