Who do you have?

In the East, I've got Lebron, Giannis, Kyrie, and Horford. The last guard spot for the East is a tossup right now between Derozan, Oladipo, and Brad Beal.

In the West, the only guys I'm sure of are Curry, Durant, and Harden. I'm not sure what to do with the other front court spots with Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins, Lamarcus Aldridge, Karl Towns, Jimmy Butler, and Nikola Jokic.

Two all-star starters for a team as bad as New Orleans?

I voted for :

Simmons - Kyrie - LeBron - Giannis - Porzingis
Steph - Harden - Durant - Davis - Jokic

Regardless of personal preferences and team records (those who imo deserve it the most) :

Simmons - Oladipo - LeBron - Giannis - Embiid
Steph - Harden - Durant - Davis - Boogie

It's not crazy. If we were to just go on numbers, it would definitely be AD and Boogie as starters.

It’s never just on numbers though, it’s not fantasy sports. With that logic you could have argued that Okafor should have been an all star on his first year in Phili. Many guys on bad teams can put up great stats

Cousins and Davis over Aldridge and Towns? No way.

For me personally, I'm not necessarily concerned with team record. I like to see players who put up gaudy numbers night in and night out. The format is more of a popularity contest than anything as it is. I just don't want to watch LaMarcus Aldridge or someone like Al Horford play on the All-Star stage.

They're both certainly deserving, but both are pretty boring to me. Give me high flying dunks, half court 3's, or ankle breakers all day.

I'm not saying it should be just about numbers, I'm just pointing out that both guys are putting up incredible numbers and we shouldn't ignore that.

Dont see what Towns has done to be above Davis or Cousins

Agreed, the only argument to be made is that he's on a better team which has little to do with him individually. Which begs the question: At what point do team records matter?

If you have talent, it doesn't suddenly go away when you're on a good team. There are plenty of All-Star players who've played on inferior teams at some point individually before coming together to create a championship nucleus, while still remaining All-Stars.

I can certainly understand the argument of "Player A and B both have identical numbers, but the player who has a better team and record should get the nod", but it doesn't necessarily mean the player with the inferior team is not worthy.
