He's shooting 61% on the season (no including tonight's 1-5 showing), actually a regression from last years 69%. He's a pretty efficient player otherwise, is it mental at this point?

Yeah, it's kind of a worry.

It will be especially if this continues into the playoffs.

Really hope he can bring the % up, otherwise we could start seeing more "Hack-a-Jaylen" soon...  :o

Undoubtedly it's a worry. Dude is in Rondo territory.

And with his physicality and ability to get to the rim, it feels like he just leaves points on the board.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
It's mental whenever a player misses 4 FTs in a row in under a minute.

I do think it is currently a worry, but assume he will eventually work it out. Jaylen isn't a 'natural' basketball player; everything he does looks thought out. It's why he goes through major lulls and sometimes doesn't even look like he belongs on a YMCA basketball court. As he progresses into his career, things will become more 2nd nature and his competitive drive and dominance will take over.

I love Jaylen - I think he is my favorite player on the team - but he is still very young. He has done such a good job from his rookie year to this year that we are all holding him to an entirely different standard. That is a great thing from a development standpoint.

Started a thread on this a while ago and I'm still worried. Btw how did he miss those 4? If those were close misses I think he'll be fine, I didn't watch the game due to school.

Tommy says it all the time.
The young guys rush their free throws.

He's been bad no doubt. But with his work ethic, my answer is no. Let him develop.

Its obvious he focused on his 3 stroke this off-season. Give him another off-season of ball-handling and free throws.

He has no confidence at the foul line. Dreadful.

This. Olynyk could have easily shot 85-90 % if he wasnt rushing his free throws.

Same with Brown, he doesnt always take his time.

it has to be a point of emphasis for him this season. he is an aggressive player that could easily go to the Ft line up to 10 times per contest and he has to make them better than he is right now. There is no doubt he can shoot the ball, his form, elevation, confidence is all at a high level.
Last nights 4 in a row was a killer...

naw.....he is working on so much ....he had so little college time.   shooting is so much gym time , he just needs the hours to practice and focus.   He has the Bradley work ethic ,  it will all come in time.
