Is Jaylen Brown too focused on his own growth?

I obviously like what I see, but I sense a "me first" mentality from him. The windmill dunks, the post-game interviews, the trying to raise his social profile.

It's all good and the Celtics are the beneficiary of this development but there is a line that can be crossed which can cause some internal dissension on a team when a guy has such a high level of personal aspiration.

Not sure why u think Brown being aggressive is a bad thing.  I think its great and necessary for his (and our) growth.

The only issue that I would be concerned with is selfish play, and I’m not seeing it.

Guys market themselves. Kyrie is huge into branding. It’s not an issue unless it affects play on the floor.

In terms of his on-court play, I highly doubt he'd be on the floor if he wasn't following the offensive game plan. If he's focused on building himself off the court, then good for him. No harm in him maximizing his influence and earning potential.

I'm not seeing this.  Jaylen has some "alpha dog" in him and he's exhibiting much more of it this season.  I have no qualms with it.

Zero concern.  Brad recently spoke about how open Jaylen is to criticism.  They laid out a list goals for him during the off-season and he embraced the process of improving in areas that Brad said would be most helpful to the team.  Jaylen plays with swagger and confidence but I see nothing from him that detracts from the teams goals.  The burning desire to be the best is what gives him a chance to be an elite wing.

No concern. He's the third pick of the draft and a starter he should be trying to come into his own.

A big part of why Hayward is here is to become a bigger star. That's why there has been such an effort to keep him part of the team and visible both by the C's organization and Hayward and his camp.

Jaylen cares about getting better, but he's also a team player. We can see that in his defense. Guys who only want to be big stars don't generally devout themselves to being lock down defenders.

TP Funny, I wrote a similar post 10+ years ago. I talked about how much we'd be complaining if we won Championships year after year.

We have to keep in mind that NBA basketball is a form of entertainment. Winning and losing is important, but the product matters too. Attitude is part of this excitement. KG surely didn't hide his emotions and we loved it.

it's a good problem to have as i agree with others. I did find one thing from yesterday's game between Tatum vs Brown

there was a rebound or steal that Tatum got, and he's getting tripled team in the mid-court, instead of powering through it or trying to do something fancy, he came to a full stop, protected the ball and waited for a teammate to give a clean pass to

I was thinking at that moment, Brown probably would've kept going, and I think Tatum is playing very maturely at a very high level at such a young age...not a knock on Brown's game, just thinking Tatum is very calm, patient and lets the game come to him
