It is not that often that NBA rookies play big minutes and the team does this well.
Ok, there is one self-explanatory exception:
https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/PHW/1947.htmlSure there are Tim Duncans and Jason Kidds of the world, but in our case, we are playing a whole string of rooks together and doing great, riding a 12 game win streak.
I dug a bit into the playing time allocation and saw that out of
3360 total minutes played, our rooks played an astounding
894 or 26,6%.
Wow - more than a quarter of the whole available minutes.
If we count Jaylen Brown in, our leader in minutes with 448, who at age of 21 certainly fits into that young group, we get to the
39,94% played by rooks and sophomores.
If we go a bit further, also including the 3rd year, 23 years old T-Roz we get over the half -
50,33%! That's Brown, Tatum, Rozier, Semi, Theis, Nader, Yabu and J. Bird playing more than half of the teams minutes for the 12-2 Celtics, with that group being just over 23 years old on average.
Amazing numbers to me.
