Most Points through 6 games in the last 35 years:

1986/87- Michael Jordan: 231 (23)
1988/89- Michael Jordan: 218
1989/90- Michael Jordan: 214
2015/16- Stephen Curry: 213 (27)
1991/92- Michael Jordan: 209
2017/18- Giannis Antetokounmpo: 208 (22)

This is without a consistent jump shot and only 22 years old

Thank the refs for letting Greek freak travel and offensive foul. Seen him push off with his arm and hand check too

Sorry but all great offensive players get away with stuff, Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, Wade, Pierce, Lebron all got away with offensive fouls or traveling.

Giannis has been getting away with murder out there. The media coverage has been nauseating to the point where I feel like a snake oil salesmen is selling me this player. This just seems artificial to me, like the NBA marketing department is somehow involved in building up this brand.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. Panicking because once LeBron leaves the East (I'm assuming this will likely happen), there won't be any MVP calibre players for a few years, as much of the East talent is young guys like Tatum, Simmons, and Giannis. They are forcing Giannis down everyone's throat all while he's protected absolutely by the refs. It's infuriating to watch, to say the least.

And yeah, other star players have gotten away with this kind of play, specifically LeBron. But I can't say that stars in previous eras were protected from the rules so disgustingly, and Giannis is getting to that level
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I’m sorry but you guys are obviously suffering from a condition I call nostalgia filter. You can watch footage of the dream team where Magic jokes that if you breath on Jordan the refs call a foul, Wade practically invented the trick of jumping into players and throwing a shot up which would some how constitutes foul, John Stockton got away with murder, there is a YouTube video on how Kawhi always travels and the list goes on...

It took those players years to earn the type of cachet to get away with such blatant fouls, traveling etc. at the rate he is getting away with it so far in this young season.. It is a combination of that and the total media lovefest that makes the added up variables somewhat suspicious. Look the guy is an incredible talent and he’s going to a top player, but my hot take theory is that the rise to stardom is being accelerated by a league looking to brand and anoint a new superstar to rival LeBron in the East.

My least favorite part of the NBA is how the refs favor the players it is promoting.  Giannis is benefiting from this far too much.

Tim Donaghy, for all his faults, had a lot of interesting things to say that were clearly accurate.

I'd like a bigger sample size before I buy in, also has to have a high caliber playoff team which I don't see right now.
