The nba let this happen by letting draymond play dirty for years
 https://youtu.be/8bf0gpppXRs

"I don't know what I'm supposed to do if someone hits you twice," Green told ESPN as he left the locker room at halftime. "Man, you're taught as a kid not to allow that. What was I supposed to do?"

Members of both teams ran toward Green and Beal. Officials, coaches, players and a fan tried to break up the melee. It wasn't immediately clear whether punches were thrown.

Green emerged from the scuffle with his jersey ripped, and the two continued to jaw back and forth at each other from their respective benches.

I’m not a fan of Green, but seems to me Beal was the one losing his cool here.

Hot take:  confirms two things that were pretty well known.

1) those Nike jerseys are junk, and
2) basketball players really don't know how to fight.

Let's see what the commish does with this mess tomorrow. Punishment will be swift, certain, and relatively light.

Looks like Beal started it.  At the least, he accentuated it to a level it shouldn't ahve gone.

KD looked like he said something to Gortat along the lines of "You're not going to fight..." If so, I respect him for that.  95% of the time, I think these guys are posturing w/ no intention to fight.

He might have been sarcastic last week, but this quote by Draymond is still pretty funny right now -

Quote
Draymond Green, who is a frequent league leader in technical fouls and ejections, served as the comedic, voice-of-reason figure on this night.

"We had two guys get ejected, which was unacceptable," Green told ESPN in a joking fashion. "If we're going to win, have a possibility at winning another championship, guys can't be getting ejected like that. So I've got to talk to those two guys and let them know that we need those guys on the floor, and then maybe we can win a game. But right now, we're not that good because guys are getting ejected."

Sometimes they make Laverne and Shirley look like the Israeli special forces.

Get outta here Draymond Green. Hate this thug, glad Beal put him in his place. He'll never be in the HoF riding the coattails of 3 superstars.

For punishment their respective coaches need to make them listen to this.

Draymond is a doosh - no question, but he shouldnt have been thrown out for that when he did very little, and he shouldn't have even had the first tech to start with.

Also - The wizards have a habit of acting like complete dooshbags aswell when it comes to this fake fighting and chest puffing. Have we forgotten about the wizards last year?

Also Kelly Oubre coward-punched his own guy from behind.

For a young dude, turning into one of the bigger Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.s in the league.

Any guesses on suspension length?

For driving Beal into the fan area, Green prob get 5 games minimum, more likely 10 IMO. Thinking back to the Malice at the Palace back in the day, when long suspensions destroyed both the Pacers' title hopes, and my own fantasy championship run.

For Beal, no idea.

For real?  I highly doubt Green gets anything — Beal had him around the neck as they tumbled into the crowd.  Beal should get 1, maybe 2, games.

He ended up punching his own teammate in the back of the head. What an idiot.

Personally, I'd require them to hold hands at center court and sing the Barney song next time they play.

It's pushing the fracas into the spectator area that I think the league might react to most harshly. Massive, massive liability. I'd guess more than a few folks buying those seats in the first few rows under the hoop end their names with "Esquire."  And it's just a bad look.
