Danny loves this kid  and he is starting to pay dividends
Guard is such a hard position to master .his  early days zig zag up the court in spurts not having a destination or idea how to get there
Not now he gets up court and puts pressure on defense and surprises other teams with how good he is.His shooting looks on point low turnover rate-nice draft piece at that number

If you factor in that he's got the 2nd lowest defensive rating on the team outside of Smart, those are pretty decent stats for a starting player as well. Having a hell of a season so far.

It’s only four games in, but he’s definitely showing why Ainge was unwilling to trade him for Ibaka.

I guess I'll bring it up because someone will.

Will Terry Roziers  performance make Marcus Smart  expendable next season in Danny 's eyes?  I hope Marcus doesn't price himself out of a Celltic roster spot.

I hope not but you never know with Danny Ainge.

I think its a definite possibility, especially if Smart is looking at north of $11-12 million per.

Let's check back in on this after 20 games.  But, I agree that Rozier is balling out and he could give the Celts some useful leverage in negotiating with Smart.

Since both Rozier and Smart can play off-ball and Kyrie has a colorful injury history, I think it would be nice to have both of them on the roster, but not if Smart wants starter money.

On the other hand, regardless of how well Rozier is playing, it would be tough to see yet another 1st round pick walk out the door after 4 years.  That's not a great way to protect your assets.

Since the Celts will be capped out anyway, if they think Smart's value is unlikely to go way down immediately after signing a long term deal, they might as well sign him even if the plan is to look at shopping him at the following trade deadline or offseason.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

He basically doubles all of his stats every year!

PPG:
1.8
5.5
11.5

RPG
1.6
3.1
5.8

APG
0.9
1.8
4.0

SPG
0.2
0.6
2.0

PER
5.0
10.9
20.1

(Ok now these next few don't double, instead increase by steady increments).

ORtg
81
100
120

FG%
.274
.367
.444

3P%
.222
.318
.444

If this trend continues, next year Rozier will be averaging something like 23ppg, 10rpg, 8apg, 4spg with a PER of 40 and an ORtg of 140 while shooting 55% from both the field and from 3!   ;D

The only problem is this is all happening too early.  Danny needs to lock him up to a bargain basement contract before he really explodes.

Seriously though, I like Rozier, glad to see he's playing well and apparently improving every year with more minutes.  Hopefully he continues to improve and impress!

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

It’s of course possible.  At the same time, Rozier hits free agency only a year later, and if he keeps playing like this, he could price himself out of Boston as well, given that Kyrie hits free agency the same summer.

True, but giving Smart upwards of $17-20 million would put the Cs in the luxury tax next year, wouldn't it? Perhaps the team is more comfortable not being in the luxury tax next year and wouldn't mind going into it the year after for Rozier, who's potential looks to be better as a player with all around skills that Smart doesn't possess.

His athletic ability and improving shot reminds me of Jason Richardson's evolution from athletic play maker to overall decent scorer.
