The Junkyard Dog teaches players... almost embarrasses them into playing hard-nosed basketball like he does. It gets catchy.

Someday, Marcus will have a "Havlicek stole the moment." I hope he's a Celtic when it happens.

I was thinking about Smart earlier and there is one team he would be perfect for (not that I want he to be moved) is Denver. Their team is all offence no defence or intensity, they have Jokic as the primary distributer and Smart would be the secondary playmaker, he would balance out their team perfectly...unlucky for them he's ours  ;D

We've always wondered about the caliber of player Smart could be as an average shooter. What if he's above average, gulp? His new shot looks clean, stable-above-the-waist, repeatable, easy.

That dance-rip-dive-pass steal should be in all of Smart's future highlight reels, precisely because it's preseason. Preseason!

Yes, I caught myself getting up and cheering like it was a playoff game when he did that. Then I had to remember that it was only preseason game. Then I just didn't want him to get hurt!

Smart has been the most impressive player for the C's so far in the pre-season. Not the best player, but most impressive in the fact he seems to have put in serious work to address his weaknesses. And so far, at least, that work appears to be paying off.

Someone tell Smart that he is not fighting for a roster spot...

Yes Smart had a good preseason game vs Sixers.... He has had good games at times in the last 3 years yet overall his offensive stats are poor.  Still a poor shooter per FG% and can't be counted on to be a consistent offensive threat.  Will year 4 in the NBA be any different than the last 3.  Ever since his first year, some Celtic fans have always forecasted that he would get significantly better...hasn't happened.  Hope this is the year.

It's not just two preseason games, it's since April of last season and throughout the playoffs. It's finally a new Marcus. Rejoice.

Part of the reason I have been so high on Smart is because yes, he does shoot poorly, but he actually handles the ball well and passes well.  He also has high basketball IQ on the offensive end. He is also not a guy who is scared or very reluctant to shoot in a negative way either (that holds some players back, like Jeff Green or Kelly Olynyk).  He is a guy that could make a big jump as soon as he gets his shooting in line.  I am seeing that so far.  Especially from the corner, where he actually had positive numbers as the year went along.

I'll never be a fan of dirty players and/or floppers, but he looked like Joe Johnson with that second basket, and yeah, his shot looks much better and more compact, never mind his physique.  My only question is why now?  Why has it taken three years to see any of this, even from a fitness standpoint?  I just hope that he's not one of those "contract year" guys, as I certainly never got that vibe from him previously, but perhaps I missed something.  Either way, he should have spent time with Chauncey Billups much earlier, lol.

That's how some pro athletes are.  Some still eat like garbage because they can afford it.   Larry Bird drank a lot and ate like trash.  This is absolutely nothing new (and used to be standard for everyone just about by the way in the old NBA).

They are still people like you or me.

They called Lamar Odom the Candyman for a reason.

I thought that was drug related.
