I saw Toronto signed there own guy for 4 years at 42 mil. Smart has been great for our culture. He is willing to sacrifice for this team. He has worked to improve his skills. He lost 25 pounds and I don't think this is sully again. I would love him as our 6th man for the next 4 years. He is a great leader and is insanely clutch. I would try and ink him for 4 years at 50 million. Thoughts? Do you guys want to resign him? If so for how much?

Because he'd shoot a similar percentage from the field with his eyes closed.

Who says we arent. I bet Danny has given Marcus' agent a number already and they are negotiating.

If we could sign him for 4/50, it would be done by now.  Both sides are going to wait to see how a thinner Smart plays and if his improved shooting is for real.  Expect a negotiation to occur in a couple of months.

Any source on us not trying to sign Smart to an extension?

We very well may be.  Or, we might have had preliminary discussions with him but both decided to wait until next summer.  Or Smart wants to test free agency.  Or Ainge wants to use the leverage of restricted free agency.  The only thing that seems really unlikely is Danny not even broaching that discussion with Smart
I'm bitter.

He will be signing for more that $12M per.  I do think the plan is to match any offer on him, and he is a big reason why IT and Avery were traded.

Given the 3 years 30 million for Andre Roberson and the 4 years 42 million for Powell I'd say smart gets between 4/44 and 4/52. Not more than that, unless he shows significant offensive improvement this year.

I have to say, watching him in preseason is bringing me closer and closer to accepting this idea.

The improved conditioning hasn't exactly turned him in to the flash, but he certainly does look to have a significantly quicker first step, to be quicker changing directions, and quicker laterally movement.  That's very important, and was one of my biggest critiicsms of him in the past.

In addition to that I have to admit his outside shooting looks much improved, in more ways then one.  Not only does he seem to be making his shots with greater consistency, but he seems to have improved his decision making and shot selection - two other major criticisms I had of him.

If he can keep this up in those four area (conditioning, outside shooting, decision making with the ball, shot selection) then I will be well and truly back on the Marcus Smart hype train that I've not been fully on board for quite some time.

I think they are trying to extend him.  I hope it gets done soon.  He has looked great so far.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I am very encouraged by his shooting 2 pre season games in. There was always confidence, now the mechanics seem to be catching up with his confidence. I think this started with the work he put in last year's offseason, which is only starting to bear fruit now.
