I have to say, watching him in preseason is bringing me closer and closer to accepting this idea.
The improved conditioning hasn't exactly turned him in to the flash, but he certainly does look to have a significantly quicker first step, to be quicker changing directions, and quicker laterally movement. That's very important, and was one of my biggest critiicsms of him in the past.
In addition to that I have to admit his outside shooting looks much improved, in more ways then one. Not only does he seem to be making his shots with greater consistency, but he seems to have improved his decision making and shot selection - two other major criticisms I had of him.
If he can keep this up in those four area (conditioning, outside shooting, decision making with the ball, shot selection) then I will be well and truly back on the Marcus Smart hype train that I've not been fully on board for quite some time.
