Yet goes 0-3 yesterday

needs to keep developing on his shot

He has this slight awkward set jump shot.   Just needs to relax and not be so mechanical.  i think is the issue

Any rookie will 100% have to keep developing everything.

I'm not sure I agree with your analysis on his jump shot. I think it's silky smooth.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Tatum looked like a beta alongside the starters and players with experience.

He looked like an alpha when he was with other rooks or lesser stars. He and Theis played well off each other, each finding the other on almost back to back plays on over the top passes when both recognized that the other had a mismatch. Good stuff.

He shot pretty solid from three both in college and in Summer League - I'm pretty confident (like 80%+ confident) that his shooting struggles yesterday were purely down to opening night jitters.

Totally normal for a rookie and should be practically expected for one as young as he is.  I don't expect his outside shooting to be an issue this year at all.

I actually really like his jumper personally.  With his 8'10" standing reach a combined with the naturally high release on his shot, it is night on impossible for opponents to block or affect his jumper.  He can pretty much shoot over 80%-90% of his opponents anytime he wants, and of the handful of opponents who ARE long enough to bother him, most will not be quick enough to stay with him off the dribble.

About the only guys I can think of who would have the combined length+quickness to bother Tatum would be Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and RudyGay.

To be honest even those guys (bar maybe Durant and Giannis) would probably have trouble if he decides to go to his Dirk style fade-away.

Tatum should be able to get his shot off at will even at the NBA level, and all he has to do is make them.  As he develops his shot later on in his career, he has the potential to be truly deadly and downright unstoppable.

Tatum cleanly blocked Dwight Howard's shot.
Refs called a foul.

Triboy, stop. His shot is not mechanical at all. Is it pretty? No, but it is pure. Reggie Miller and Wilkes are examples of players without pretty form, but definitely pure. Justise Winslow has a mechanical shot. A mechanical shot happens when you try changing your form repeatedly by finetunning things (not having your shooting elbow pop out, altering release point, switching the position of the guide hand, etc.). That's why there is some concern with all the stuff going on with Fultz.
