I assumed that Marcus Morris will be our starting 4 next to Al Horford this season and I think that by the end of the season, he probably will be.  I know preseason does not matter, but it does give hints at what the rotation could look like when the season starts.

The two big question marks are the shooting guard spot, and one big man.  The shooting guard spot is going to come down to Jaylen Brown (my vote) and Marcus Smart.  And it looks like either Aron Baynes and Marcus Morris will start for us this season.

I know things change over the course of the season but who do you think will start on Monday, keeping in mind that Morris obliviously can not.

I got:

Kyrie (duh)
Jaylen
Gordon (duh)
Al Horford (duh)
Baynes

Another thing I forgot to mention is that during his interview at media day with celtics.com, they asked Marcus Smart if he wants to start. He said that he would like to but is willing to do whatever coach Stevens wants him to.  Do you think that Marcus wanting to start changes anything?

No...

Everyone wants to start. I’m sure if you asked Shane Larkin if he wanted to start he would say yes.

Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko

Yeah, doubt what Marucs wants has much, if any, impact.

He also said something along the lines of "we're all interchangeable", so I think he's come to terms with leading the second unit.

Tatum is the sleeper. The question is how good is he right now.

I think ultimately, Tatum is the future PF of this team. Right now, he's way too skinny.

OP - I agree with your starters for Monday.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Tatum is too skinny if guys are posting him up but who are the big post up 4s in the league? LeBron comes to mind, when he plays the 4. Also it's a two way game, Tatum would be a mismatch for most 4s on the offensive end.

Seems like a likely starting lineup. I think over the course of the season, we'll see some changes in the starting SG, as CBS will probably vacillate between Smart and Brown. Come season end though, I think JB ends up the permanent starting 2 guard.

When Kyrie gets injured though, I fully expect Smart to start as PG.

I think the starting five will in all likelihood be as suggested. I expect lots of rotation though. We won't see our regular starting five until some of the season has unfolded. Maybe Smart and/or Theis work their way into starting?

I think I'd prefer to see Jaylen Brown start.  For all his warts, Marcus Smart is better at running an offense, and I think that would be more beneficial to the bench unit than the starting unit.

Hopefully Brown can raise his defense another level this year and provide close to the level of defense Smart does. We really only need a '3 and D' type at the starting SG spot. I just want brown to be able to fill that type of role for this season. Anything above that is gravy.
