I think the first option is the way to go. dynasties take a lot of work but I also believe they are more luck and happen because an organization is in the right place at the right time. New England fans esp. should be able to realize this.

This one is ridiculously easy.  Winning multiple championships is where it's at and there's nothing to stop us from winning championships afte such a run.

I think all you can really do is be in a position to compete for a championship. I think we are in that position for this year and next. If things break exactly right for The Celtics this year, I wouldn't be surprised by banner 18 this year. This team has championship talent on it.

lol, that didn't take long. that is such a flawed philosophy.

sure everyone wants to do what the patriots have done & sure everyone wants to do what the spurs have done & the bulls. but no one can plan that, you can maintain it but if drew Bledsoe doesn't get injured tom brady may never see the field. if the Celtics won the lottery like they should have greg Popovich probably isn't as great as everyone makes him out to be and the spurs may have only won 1 championship.

the only things these teams have done to win multiple championships is maintain and build off the luck that was thrust upon them.

this is a big reason why a lot of teams fail at building teams, this is why some players make bad decisions when it comes to choosing in free agency which team to go to(need an example? david west. he chose the pacers because the Celtics were aging and the pacers were young n' up n' coming - he had thoughts of "dynasty" in his eyes, when he should've been concerned with just getting one... which he would've gotten, we really could've used 'em that yr.)

fans make the same mistake. they get thoughts of "dynasty" in their eyes and it clouds their judgement.

Yeah, option 2 needs to be a little more definitive - like 5 championships in 10 years; then 40+ years without.

It gives you the same amount of championships over a 50 year period, but it really makes you decide between having a dynasty that you can always reflect back on or being generally satisfied over the next 50 years.

I think option 2 is pretty well defined.

IMO this is a no-brainer. Winning less does not mean you will be compensated in the future.

Go for the dynasty and see what happens.

I think it would be more interesting if the choices were:

A) A championship every 8 - 10 years in perpetuity; or

B) 3 to 5 championships over the next seven years, but none after that for the rest of your life.

that one is A easily because the odds are the team wouldn't be bad for more than a year or two. in B it is fairly likely the team will be a bottom feeder for a lot of years
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yep. Having the chance to root for a dominant team would be fun, but going 40 or so years without a title would suck.

option "B" in your example is essentially the same as mine in the poll. except I left the chance to win future championships open for possibility but no guarantee. I think this went over everyone's head.

I think the building cycle is fun, so I'll go with one every decade or so in perpetuity. Then again, if your management is shrewd enough to build the first dynasty, it could probably be trusted to rebuild well.
