One players skillset that we just couldn't replace was Avery Bradley.

16 ppg and 6 RPG. They won't shoot like Bradley did but between the two I think we can expect 16 and 6, but really where we need these guys is to defend at an elite level. Two of the better athletes in the NBA, there play on that end will be critical to our success.

AB is a great player but he isn't a world defender like some people think
He is too thin to fight over screen, not a very good team defender, can't really lockdown elite PGs
, not a versatile defender
Only thing he does best is to dominate the average ball handling PG and quick SGs, which ,while hard to replace, isn't really that needed

I actually think if jaylen plays starter minutes he's averaging 16 and 6 all on his own.   I also consider both players to be good defenders with brown obviously having size if playing at sg

While this is true, we also will have a significant increase from Hayward  at SF over Crowder in measurable  stats.

Bradley was overrated.
Irving ate him alive in the playoffs.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Yeah, I expect Hayward to replace a lot of Crowder's, Bradley's, and KO's production on his own - at least offensively. He is also a very good playmaker and can actually drive to the hoop.

I imagine Jaylen will have a slightly larger role, but even if he averages like 10ppg with solid defense, we should be good to go. Nobody else really needs to make a jump, but the addition of Tatum and another year of development from Rozier should help.

To be fair, Irving ate our entire team alive in the playoffs lol.

But now it's an issue of who guards the likes of Wall in the playoffs, or DeRozan/Lowry, etc.

Might be a little much to expect. Looking at other second year SF players like Hayward, George, Leonard and they typically average 28-30 minutes with 11-13 pts in their second year.

On this team brown won't need to create his own offense.  He fills lanes, draws fouls and shoots good ft and 2 3 pointers a game that 16 comes quick.  It's not like defenses will be concentrating on him, he'll be 4th or 5th option if starting.

I think Smart will try to replace AB, Rozier and Brown will try to replace Smart's production.

By the way I don't think AB is overrated, nobody was saying he's overrated when he's on our team. AB has the ability to shutdown average guards, can seriously limit elite guards.
