  • That's turrible
I'm really looking for a leap from a guy like Jaylen. I want to see him get opportunities to get the ball in the hoop more since he's (hopefully) here for a long while. With guys like Hayward and Irving and Horford starting, won't it be kind of hard for him to get touches?

Well, jaylen has a chance to start.  And Tatum will now be first wing off the bench.  So they'll get their opportunities.  And if jaylen is better, you'll see it.  He won't need to score 25 a game for us to know whether he's gotten better.

Hopefully someone checks Kyrie's head for him at the door.  Gordon's the kind of player any one would benefit from playing with.

Young guys should be bench players. That is until they prove they should be starters. Jaylen and Tatum will get plenty of playing time to prove that.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Their opportunities will come with playing time - and that time will be earned mostly through playing solid team defense. Just being on the floor with Al, Gordon & Kyrie there will be all sorts of open looks.

Hayward and Irving aren't going to use 100% of the team's possessions.

This team has 8 very talented players. We need all 8 to play a big role if we are going anywhere this year.

 Horford
 Morris
 Brown
 Hayward
 Irving

 Smart
 Tatum
 Rozier

So we need Tatum and Brown and Smart to play huge roles. Baynes, Yabu, Semi, Theis, can battle for back up big minutes.

At this point I'd take the Dancing Bear over Rozier, really like his potential.

Tp, I'm with you on Yabu upside. However Rozier needs to step up with Avery gone.

I think he'll be fine, he's not playing anything more than 12 minutes a game anyways, we've got Kyrie and Smart guzzling around 32 minutes each in the guard spots as well as Jaylen starting. TP back at you for appreciating our starting PF at the end of the year 8).

Kyrie takes IT's place, so the only uptick in touches will be at whatever position Hayward is it, and he's not a ballhog, so I think there will be plenty of touches to go around. And as others here have noted, the young bucks have to prove they deserve an increase in touches.

This is not little league where everyone gets to touch the ball. They are welcome to prove they belong.

The young guys will be a big part of our bench. Tatum still needs time to develop his body to be a full time starter, but he'll get plenty of minutes to work on his game. Brown or Smart will start at the 2 guard position. IF Smart did get quicker and has found his shot, he may get it, but I'd rather see him off the bench with more experience to lead the new guys.

Yabu and Semi will be energy guys off the bench. Who ever is feeling it that night will get the call.

People need to remember these guys are still a few years away from being developed. It's good to bring them in slowly. Look at Brown and how well he did in the playoffs. Earning minutes will work out in the long run for our rooks, than guys who automatically get it. They'll know how to push them selves to win something. Even if it's just minutes, it's the first step.

Both Kyrie and Hayward can shoot and drive and that ought to keep defenses honest.   This may allow some of the youngs guys to take it to the hole more.   IT could drive but Crowder was never much a threat in this regard as least not as much as Hayward.   I expect us to take time to mesh and have some warts at the beginning of the season but I think offensively we could be a better team.
