From playing days to GM- from having to trade Paul Pierce and KG
Hiring a college coach and trading rondo-WHAT COURAGE
And now to trade Avery to make room for Hayward, then Isaiah and Crowder after swapping the number one pick-WHAT COURAGE
And bringing in Hayward  and its implication on his sons political future in Utah.-WHAT COURAGE
Danny belongs up in rafters as a hall of fame GM right beside Red Auerbach
Danny has put on a masterclass of a dismantling and rebuilding a team and organization.

We are lucky he decided on his own to leave the Suns.

He has the courage to disregard criticism when he believes a move will make the team better. Other GMs care too much about how the fans will react or worry about being wrong. Ainge has lots of healthy self-confidence.

Danny is the last gift Red gave for the Celtics before he left us. It was him who recommend Danny to Wyc and the other owners when they bought the team from the atrocious ownership of Paul Gaston.

Red said that DA is a winner when he drafted him. He was 100% right.

I love Danny Ainge.
I was thrilled when he traded Pierce and Garnett. Thrilled when he traded Rondo. Thrilled when he traded for Irving. Good decisions all.

Not to mention, he have more finals appearances than the Big 3.

Ainge was a competitive player so it stands to reason he would put winning first as a GM.   He really has ice in his veins and a willingness to take big risks that are unpopular to make the team better.

Yes courageous, but also PATIENT.  Lots of GMs make short-sighted decisions to either make a splash or for financial reasons.  Wyc/ownership back Ainge and trust him 100% and that allows him to wait for the right opportunity.  In the present case, Kyrie wasn't even on the radar screen until he expressed his desire to be traded. Ainge seized the opportunity.

Ainge also seems to be great judge of character in athletes.  This team now is full of "character guys" who will work together as a team.

I think that is a bit unfair.  Other GMs don't have owners like Wyc, et al, who are singularly obsessed with winning championships.  Other GMs don't have fans like the Celtics who are also singularly obsessed with winning championships.

The Boston Celtics are not the Memphis Grizzlies.

I think an outsider would look at Ainge's career as a GM and say "1 championship"? when they probably wouldn't even consider the dumpster fire he took over when he became GM.

wasn't vin baker still under contract for 3 or 4 yrs. after Ainge took over?
