People, people, people

Relax

Who would have thought 3 years ago that the Celtics would have Kyrie, Hayward, Horford and a few young rising stars on the roster? Not to mention the rights to some very nice draft picks to keep refueling. This is the best of times, people. This team is going to be exciting, not just now, but in the future, too. I mean, this young core of players is amazing. Great job to the organization for putting it all together.

More hype. More National TV games. More meaningful games. More highlights. Stronger rivalries. Deeper passion. The hunger for a championship(s)... WHOA!

Man, this is going to be awesome.

If you focus on what is here and on this roster as opposed to what is not, man you are going to love it. Brace yourselves for some really good basketball

Peace

A good rule of thumb is that the better the team gets the more negative the tone will get around here. As the stakes get higher and a title gets more realistic people start stressing more and more about falling short.

During the Big 3 era about the only times it wasn't relentlessly negative was between Game 4 of the Finals and the championship parade in 08, and parts of the 2010 and 2012 runs.

Yup TP.

Looking forward to the trade Al Horford threads whenever we get outrebounded.

Love the post.

I think it is easier to be pessimistic than optimistic.

I also think that honest critique is important, but not to the point where people are making stuff up about Kyrie, Hayward, etc. to validate their disapproval of a certain transaction.

When I hear people say they are naturally pessimists, I think "what a drag". Life is too short to be a curmudgeon!
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I guess the bit I should've added is that I agree with the OP and I think for anyone who can maintain perspective it should mostly be a blast. As someone who mostly just tries to enjoy the team, the best advice is just to expect the negativity but not let it get to you.

I am excited about the upcoming season. Lot of talent on this team.

That doesn't mean I have to like the Kyrie trade though.

What are people making up?

I've actually seen more fiction from the pro-trade side (I.e., four year age gap, Kyrie is more efficient than IT, Kyrie was a second / third option, etc.)

I'm always excited for Celtics basketball. Heck, I'm excited to see what Kyrie can become. I still think it was an awful trade.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I can confirm fairweatherfan's point.

during last season, the Sixers subreddit was one of the merriest places on the internet.

-Not a good leader (takes the last shot to win the NBA championship, leaves CLE to take on more of a leadership role). He was given multiple opportunities to talk poorly of Lebron, and he declined. This suggests maturity and leadership.

-Not a good teammate (bringing up issues from the past- everyone knows that the best athletes have fought with teammates)

-Not a competitor (why leave Cleveland when you can win a ring?!?!)

I think we understand that you're not a Kyrie Irving fan Roy. What I don't understand is your proposal that would put the Celtics in a better situation to win now, and in the future.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Don't worry about Roy. He is hung on on regular season IT and regular season stats.  Roy hasn't figured it out yet that in the playoffs Kyrie is superior to IT, which is all that matters at this point.

Roy also hasn't realized yet that givin a max to 27 year old kyrie is much better then giving it to 29 year old IT.   Give him a year he will get it eventually.

Not trading two major contributors who offer more in the present than Kyrie Irving while keeping the most valuable draft asset in the league?

That's a declarative statement without any evidence to back it up, particularly as it pertains to Thomas and his injury.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."
