It is understandable for IT to be upset at being traded, it least at first.  In the long run though, I think playing for the Cavs is probably better for his value and legacy.  He has a better chance to win a title.  He is going to get a chance to play with perhaps the best player of all time,  Yeah, I know, he has to live in Cleveland but he really does not have anything to complain about.  It is part of the deal with playing in the NBA.  This is going to turn out fine for IT and he will make peace with the trade and the Celtics.  I fully expect a big successful season from him and even at that, he will probably exceed my expectation.  Cleveland will love IT just like Boston did.

Cavs fans are not as good as Celtic Fans.  We sell out win or lose, not them.   I have been to a couple of Cavs games and have seen in person.

I wish IT well except when he playing us.   Same for Crowder.

IT has consistently expressed gratitude to the C's for helping his career.  I see no reason why being traded should change that.
Uh what?

He was traded for the PG he just was matched against in the ECF, that's rough for a player. Add to it the fact that he's been underpaid for his production his whole career and now the place that he aggressively and enthusastically adopted moved him before his FA is just another sign that the league will not be giving the contract he feels his play deserves.

If your boss transferred or fired you after helping get your career rolling to bring in a hot shot from accross the street would you be mad? Even if your overall career was enhanced by your tenure?

So what does getting mad and burning a bridge do?  Negativity attracts negativity.. #Fact   Better yet, you respond by being a professional and thank the organization for paying you based on a contract you signed from another team.   Loyalties are to the name on the front of the jersey and the person paying you.   You play for the NBA and the team that vouches for your contract.   Its not like he worked for Verizon and got traded to Sprint.

Time can change perspective.  I am sure that Thomas will view the Celtics with mixed emotions.  There will always be a mixture of the good--the great--that was, and the lost dream of what will never be.  Gratitude?  Frustration?  Anger?  Appreciation for his friends on the team?  Probably all of the above and more.

He definitely made the most of the opportunity and I'm sure he feels disappointed that he won't be around to have the opportunity "finish what he started" here.
Yup

If IT is mad, he's got a right to be. He just got traded after giving everything to the franchise, for a guy who isn't even a clear upgrade.

I'm sorry for your loss Roy.

I missed the joke.

IT sacrificed his health and endured tremendous personal pain as he tried to help this franchise advance.

I'd argue that he did that for personal reasons like getting a nice big,fat max contract.

He should, indeed.

IT4 did his own KG impersonation and gave this team HOPE with his electrifying play.

He set the example - playing through pain - often physical AND emotional - and put the team FIRST.

It is on HIS back (and Jae's) that we are AT LEAST as good (if not BETTER) that LAST year's team.

I'd hope that Danny lets NO ONE wear number 4 for a LONG time. I don't know if his jersey warrants retirement but there can be NO denying that his time in BOS was special.

Get well, IT. Get some rest - especially for your BACK. Lord knows it should be sore as much as you carried this team.
