Crazy glue, a nickname that Jalen Rose uses to affectionately describe our 2004 draftee Tony Allen. I liked the sound of it, so I expanded the expression a little bit. So, what is a crazy glue guy? He is a basically a glue guy with an edge, with a screw missing in his head. A good kind of a crazy person. Not necessarily the best player on the team, but a great locker room guy that makes others feel comfortable and with some time, his immediacy makes the group tighter. Someone who, in the midst of adversity, will make sure that guys stick together.
Last year my crazy glue would definitely be Gerald Green.

It is somewhat of an underrated role, particularly at this time of the year, but every team needs these guys. With 11/15 players changed from our last year's roster, our chemistry needs a rebuild too.
So, who will be the one?

There is a time in a career when a guy is just too young to establish himself in the group in that sense. Lacking experience, playing time or connections/friendships.
OUT: Ojeleye, Nader, Yabussele, Theis, J.Bird
REMAINING: 10/15

Even though some young players get the minutes and the opportunity to establish themselves as bigger names, however, these guys will mainly listen to the vets and soak up their knowledge. Not providing that much input to others - not a glue guy.
OUT: Tatum, Brown, Rozier, Larkin
REMAINING: 6/15

Sometimes guys have the necessary social skills, experience, and status, but don't have that "crazy" element needed to fill in in the crazy glue application form. By that I mean stuff like this:

They are either too nice, too sane or they care about their social image too much.
OUT: Horford, Hayward, Kyrie
REMAINING: 3/15

The final 3 candidates left are Smart, Cus Morris, and Baynes. All are vets and are projected to be in the rotation. All three of them you would like to have on your side in a bar fight. It hard to pick the best one, so I made a table, link below, with highly reliable and measurable parameters to determine the best choice.

There is the winner. Surprised, mildly yeah, but, just like the ball, the numbers don't lie.
After all, he has all the tools to be a great crazy glue guy. He can curse in more than 10 languages (played for the Spurs), he sacrifices his body for his teammates and he doesn't take marmalade from anyone while being extremely coachable.
