by the time we have irving/hayward/davis, thinking about free agents wont be on our minds, the banner will be. what free agent will we need at that point? we'd be virtually complete. ring chasing veterans will take the minimum to come here, and others should be willing to take paycuts or exceptions to come here.

I thought this was supposed to be an actual report of an inside source or something. No just flat out plagiarism.

Uh Kaufman linked Lowe's article that he screenshoted for his tweet. He was quoting the article.

Maybe you should click through before you start throughing accusations?

Porzingis won't be available on his rookie deal in all odds, assuming the NYK are willing to offer him a maximum extension he will sign it and only when that deal runs short will he be potentially shopped.

I like Davis...but rather try to trade for Leonard 1st
he probably will not be available

Not only would he be available and the Spurs wouldn't trade him, but we just maxed out an All Star caliber player who plays the same position.

But those chips towards Davis.

Makes sense. The Pelicans want back studs in a trade, not scrubs

And then after that run? Going to need FA's again. And people won't forget us trading Horford.

I'd rather we try trading for PORZINGIS. Here's why

Yeah yeah I know, I'm usually always posting on Anthony Davis threads and would absolutely love to have him too (who wouldn't?), but the biggest problem I see is matching salary.

See, I DON'T want to trade our first marquee FA signing in franchise history (Horford), and that would paint a bad picture of the C's and make it hard to attract FA's in the future (even with Irving here).

And I'm ALSO AWARE that to then match salaries, we'd have to gut our team (Brown, Tatum, Smart, ETC.). So only real option may be in a complicated 3-team deal.

Meanwhile Porzingis is on a rookie deal still with 2 years left on it.

The Knicks are HORRIBLE and will be even worse once they deal Carmelo. Phil Jackson may be gone, but Dolan exists. Maybe Porzingis pulls a Kyrie and demands he wants out next summer? Especially if Knicks have another brutally bad season.

It's Anthony Davis. If we want him, we're trading both Brown and Tatum. Add Morris and $4M salary and you're done.

Brown, Tatum, Morris, LAL18 (after draft)
Brown, Tatum, Morris, Yabusele, Rozier

Or, a re-signed Smart is going to make enough $$ to make things easier.

etc

Salary isn't going to steer us toward Porzingis, who is a very good player but not in Davis' league.

Pelicans will want draft pick(s) so it will take LAL Pick for sure + all that.

That seems like a ton, even for Davis.

Also I assume IF we get him at the earliest, it would be next summer, not the deadline... In which case Morris becomes a FA.

Maybe then you do sign and trade with Morris involved?

If anyone had any doubts the C's under Ainge will trade ANYONE, then the IT move makes it very clear.

Players know the deal, that's why they get player options etc. Horford might be upset but he's being traded for Anthony freaking Davis, he knows whats up.
