Makes sense. AD has potential to be an all time great, best player in the league, mvp, and might become available

Who wouldn't
they're not naming other teams, so a lot of other teams have no trade package to offer

There aren't many teams that can put a package together like we can, and the ones who could, like Philly, aren't going to be a destination for a guy like AD.

Davis won't be available anytime soon, but I'd rather keep some of our young assets than jettison everything for AD. Tatum and/or Brown and/or one of our picks may become as good a player as Davis.  But if you give up everything to get him you could find yourself in the shape Cleveland is in, maxed out on salary, not good enough to win a title, no draft picks, and no flexibility to add anything other than vet minimum free agents. I'm a big believer in winning through the draft, so I hope Ainge doesn't go the AD route unless a really good deal presents itself.

I thought this was supposed to be an actual report of an inside source or something. No just flat out plagiarism.

Danny will NOT trade for him "before he asked out"
he always trade for those guys that want out so you can win the trade

Think about this, as soon as Davis asked out he is heading straight to Celtics because no other team is going to match our offer, not even close, just like the KI situiation

AND Davis knew this
So what do you think what he will think, just pull an Irving and you will be on a winning team contending every year, no risks here.

Hold out for Durant.

I'd love Durant but he seems intent on making it work in GS, and while Durant is good enough that need shouldn't really play into things, the fact remains that we have an all star wing player, two top 3 pick wing players, and a glaring hole where our 2nd big man should be.

I'd rather we try trading for PORZINGIS. Here's why

Yeah yeah I know, I'm usually always posting on Anthony Davis threads and would absolutely love to have him too (who wouldn't?), but the biggest problem I see is matching salary.

See, I DON'T want to trade our first marquee FA signing in franchise history (Horford), and that would paint a bad picture of the C's and make it hard to attract FA's in the future (even with Irving here).

And I'm ALSO AWARE that to then match salaries, we'd have to gut our team (Brown, Tatum, Smart, ETC.). So only real option may be in a complicated 3-team deal.

Meanwhile Porzingis is on a rookie deal still with 2 years left on it.

The Knicks are HORRIBLE and will be even worse once they deal Carmelo. Phil Jackson may be gone, but Dolan exists. Maybe Porzingis pulls a Kyrie and demands he wants out next summer? Especially if Knicks have another brutally bad season.

It's Anthony Davis. If we want him, we're trading both Brown and Tatum. Add Morris and $4M salary and you're done.

Brown, Tatum, Morris, LAL18 (after draft)
Brown, Tatum, Morris, Yabusele, Rozier

Or, a re-signed Smart is going to make enough $$ to make things easier.

etc

Salary isn't going to steer us toward Porzingis, who is a very good player but not in Davis' league.
