Quote
Irving is ecstatic about potentially coming to Boston, about the possibility of playing for Stevens and being a more integral part of the offense than he was in Cleveland. Irving was visibly unhappy in his final season with the Cavaliers. He wanted out. And after the trade was reported he began to prepare himself for being a leader in Boston.

Privately, Irving felt he could no longer grow under the tutelage of LeBron James, and he felt stifled by Tyronn Lue’s offense and the influence James had on the schemes. Irving felt like he played with a revolving door of players and lineups, and that most certainly would go to a further extreme should James leave the Cavaliers next summer.

  • GOT IT!!!
This is the kind of attitude I was hoping to see. Shake that gunner mentality he has had over the years. We shall see about the trade but:

Once you play for Brad Stevens, you will never regret it.

The guy that says no to LBJ, our biggest rival in the past decade or so, gets some extra love from me even before playing a game for us. I love LBJ's game, but I naturally root against him.
Kyrie became ours by his own will, he wasn't supposed to be available, and then he wasn't supposed to land in Boston but here he is. The guy that knocked us from the playoffs, came back as he figured we are the team to join. Waving his trade kicker gets him even more, love from me.
Irving is ecstatic... so am I.

Talking about forcing your way to join the team you beat in ECF

I'm ready to give them our first next year if it closes the deal. 2 years on his contract. He wants to come to the Celts. Superstar. Young. They can't let this fall through.

Long as Brown , Smart and Tatum stay put im on board.

LOL...Lues offense ...LOL....yeah right .....Lebron is running the show ,  he tells Lue what how he wants things .   Everything is about the  Whiner .  He can only play for a weak brainless FO and coach , no way he can play for Pop or Dallas .  Lebron won't listen to authority .

This thread led me to this Gasper article, which I think is pretty spot on.

I'd argue we give something more like Heat or Celts 2020 2nd rounder (whichever is higher), but just get it done.

No. Give them nothing.

There's a moral hazard in allowing teams to renegotiate trades that were originally negotiated in good faith. What happens if we want to send Rozier out later this year? Will the next team claim that he's "damaged goods" and demand more after we think the negotiations are complete?

If you allow one team to take advantage of you that's an advertisement for every team to take advantage of you. Danny should tell CLE to either take the deal as-is or walk.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Meh..get the deal done. Give them a protected late first rounder or some second rounders. Kyrie is special and is exactly the next piece needed for the Cs. Hopefully they hit on the Lakers pick this year and still have a lottery pick to add to Kyrie, Hayward, Horford, Tatum and Brown.
