Cleveland had significantly valued the 2018 Nets pick in the trade, and Boston believed it allowed for Thomas' physical uncertainty in the current terms of the deal, league sources said.

It looks like it IT was healthy, we wouldn't be offering that pick. That was their trade sweetener

This is what I thought to be the case. It's kinda shady for the Cavs to act like they were swindled and are trying to get even more assets out of the deal. I personally don't see this deal falling through. An additional asset may go Cleveland's way, but I don't see it being anything significant.

I thought this was already a good trade for both sides.

Stick to your guns, Danny.
Cleveland will fold.

I bet Queen Lebron is in GM and owners ear. That Brooklyn pick is gold and can be used to get another superstar or draft a future one. They should not get another significant asset.

Exactly! Not sure what Cleveland was thinking otherwise.

Kyrie is younger (and better overall), but IT clearly had the better season. Crowder and Zizic make up the difference between the two, and the Brooklyn pick was clearly what it took due to the uncertainty of IT's hips.

Anyone still believe this isn't Cleveland trying to extract more from Boston?

I think so too

If not just give them the 2019 Celts pick (late 20s)

cavs are scammers. Danny gave them the most coveted draft pick of the next 2-3 years, a MVP finalist, and 2 good role players and this is how we're treated

I'm willing to bet this is lebron telling cavs  "get more or I'm out. If this is your final hoorah for me, it isn't enough."

Hence why shumpert is now in trade talks

It's gotta be LeBron, hence the unprofessional behavior. Even though the new GM is a noob, there's probably no way that either he or Gilbert would be pulling a stunt like this, having already been told everything about the hip. But it makes perfect sense for LeBron to not know everything about the hip until now and to now make an untimely stink about it, a demand that they get more.

Because LeBron is a dumb ass? Good point. Hopefully that doesn't shift to Ainge.

Yep, because he is a dumb ass. Hopefully not so dumb that he privately gave them a "somehow void it or I [some ultimatum]" demand.

Agree - unless they get a better offer from another team somehow and I don't think that's coming.

Let's not discount Dan Gilbert's potential role in this. He's also pretty shady

I know Celtic fans hate LeBron but nah he's supposedly staying out of all offseason moves or decisions why?? Because we know he might leave. I think Dan Gilbert is behind this if anything.

Funny four days ago the NBA world thought the Cavs made a steal and a highway robbery gaining both IT4 and BKN 2018.

This was Danny Ainge's secret plan all along.

Kind of shady but hey that's what negotiators do. And following on from that, I'm sure Danny would have anticipated that Altman would try and pull a fast one and squeeze them for some more assets and whoever he ends up giving up (if any) would have already been factored into the true cost of the deal to get Kyrie here. So he gives up an injured IT, Jae, Ante and the Brooklyn pick first, then he gives up a second rounder he's budgeted into the cost of the deal as a sweetener after, if it looks like the Cavs are willing to cut off their noses to spite their faces.
