I know everyone will hate me.. but with a late pick I would give it a shot with okafor... brad would make him better... we have some tough guys in Morris baynes theis yabusele... we have not a tall guy who can rebound and score... I know his defence is bad but is he worse than zeller? And there is room for improvement..

yeah i think were kind of desperate for big guys. if he could be had for the right price i'd like to get him. but do we have anything left to trade that would really work?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Yabusele and Ojeleye work in the trade machine (I am not trading Rozier), but I am not sure this is the route Danny wants to take. I get it, Okafor sucks, but I would still love to take a flyer on him.  Sad that it's come down to thinking trading Yabs and Semi seems like an overpay.

I know there's not a lot of options out there for bigs right now but the C's don't just need a tall human, they need someone who can rebound and protect the rim. Okafor does neither of those things well.

No to Okafor, give up Yabu, Morris, 2019 Memphis pick for Nerlens Noel.

Seems like an overpay, but I like the idea of Noel.

Noel would have to accept far less than he's reported to want to make that work.. and then we'd have a hard cap for the rest of the season. All for a guy no team in the league seems to be interested in...

I don't think that those two salaries would result in a contract that Noel would find acceptable.

No, to Okafor... bad fit.

Yes to Noel, now there's a player that would befit from Stevens. But he's gonna be too expensive.

I would take Okafor in a heartbeat, the more Duke players the better.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

If Brown starts, the Celtics also need someone that can score in the second unit.  I mean Rozier, Smart, Baynes can't score leaving just Tatum on the bench as an offense generator.  Okafor would be a pretty nice fit in that second unit and provide a nice scoring option.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I wanted to post this question as well... I think it would be a great idea. I have faith in our team's ability to properly coach and prepare players for success. This guy is just a few years removed from being a top 3 prospect at a position of need. DMCs defense was atrocious his first few years as well and now he's decent.

I would be surprised if many non-garbage-time minutes were played this season without one of Hayward and Irving on the court (when healthy, but that's always a caveat).  About half the game both will be on the court, and they'll split the other half of the game with only one on the floor.  Unless Tatum is that good in year 1 that he can carry the offense for short stretches, maybe with help from Horford, but I don't expect rookie Tatum to be that good.

i'd wait for Okafor to prove he is a little bit more stable. Now that he lost about 20 pounds, can he stay healthy and contribute behind Embiid and Simmons and Saric?  If he can transition into a role player, he may be worth taking a look at in a year or two (when his contract is up) to solidify our bench because he may be able to put up easy buckets with his advanced interior skills.
