During the post trade press conference, Danny said not to grade the trade just yet and even gave indication that he may not be done just yet.  I don't think anyone thinks there will be another major trade, but what may Danny be talking about??

He still has the LA/Sac pic.  Any chance he tries to flip that for some type of quality rim protector?

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I'm just wondering if Danny is thinking that the C's have enough young talent and may try to aggressively trade the LA/Sac pick for another veteran.

Bumping this thread.

What happens with the open roster spot? Will Cs fill it by signing a big like Bogut? Maybe a defensive guard like Tony Allen? could they somehow work out a deal for someone like Jamychal Green? Do they just leave it open?

This x 100

I've been amazed at how we've approached free agency to get a Shane Larkin and used our 2-way contracts on Allen and Bird and still don't even have a development prospect on the squad at the center position. At this point I'll take anybody over 7'0"

Bogut is about 18 months older than Horford.

If that dude can stay healthy, he would murder the NBA as a role player on this team

Zero interest in Robinson. No offense, can't shoot FTs, doesn't know how to play defense. Only thing he does is rebound.

Training camp.

I could see DA leaving the last roster spot open for time being.  It would allow him to make a 2-for-1 deal before the deadline.

I've been thinking about what is next as well. Considering what we have first and then what we could use

Experienced Guards= Irving, Smart, Rozier, Larkin
-Irving is obviously a franchise star.
-Smart is a glue guy but his shooting is still not respectable. His ability to contribute more on the offensive end may determine if he can start at SG and play next to Irving long term.
-Rozier has flashes but I'm not sold on his off the bench leadership. I really feel the signing of Larkin as well as drafting of Allen puts Rozier on the trade block.
-Larkin fits the need of a distributor especially if Rozier can't expand his game to maximize the second unit. Larkin should help get the 2nd unit easier buckets.

What's clearly missing is true SG that is good at shooting/scoring from the SG position. The team may be forced to use Brown or Hayward at the 2 spot to better complement Irving or look for a trade.

Experienced Wings=Hayward, Morris, Brown*
-Hayward is the second star on the team.
-Morris is a tweener type that is very well suited for today's game. He could start at PF but traditionally BS likes to have more size to start a game so I expect Morris to play the KO role off the bench.
-Brown with a decent first year should have an increased role his second year. To what degree is the question only answered by how much he has improved. I can see him starting a few games this season.

What the team could use is a pair of 3 and D players to spot up for shots after Hayward or Irving draw the defense. Semi, Brown or Tatum may already be the solution but it's unknown if their game is at that point. I'd take the wait and see approach for this need.

Experienced Bigs= Horford, Baynes
-Horford is a tested big but isn't reliable to do traditional big man things like rebound or defend the paint. He also doesn't possess the quickness to check some pfs.
-Baynes is more a traditional big but he will be asked to take his production to an all new level. Does he have it?

For Bigs it is clear we lack depth, even if you count inexperienced players we just don't have the bodies let alone the a total package player we can lean on. This will once again force the team to play a lot of small ball unless a trade is made or Theis surprises.

So there you have it. C's need a SG that can shoot and another big that is both mobile and a rebounder.

Note on Theis: While technically a rookie, he's 26 years old and has had good exposure to competitive Euro league basketball. He's a reigning Defensive Player of Year in his league (and has also had a solid few games in Eurobasket so far). I wouldn't write him off yet. Compared to last year's crop of bigs, Theis is probably the most athletic.

Theis is a 20 mpg player who made a career mostly coming off the bench in a second-tier (at best) league in Europe. I can't exactly fathom how this was sufficient for any sort of season award, so I'm putting exactly zero stock in it. I mean, he played less than half the game last season and started on the pine in 72 of the 74 games he played in.

Given his age and body of work, if he makes it out of camp, I see him contending for the Tyler Zeller role.
