I watched the game and I was impressed. He made several highlight plays especially the shot he made facing the other goal and got fouled. He then air-balled the free throw and the announcers asked how to do you explain that? lol

I try not to get too excited and temper my expectations but he shows glimpses of being like a Dominique Wilkins to me. He also looks like he could be a shut down defender when he wants to be. We will see.

Yeah, that statement seems pretty ridiculous - possibly pushing for a debate. I could name 100 basketball players that are better comps for Jaylen.

However, at his peak, Davis was a 20 ppg scorer with 5 apg/5 rpg. Ricky certainly was a crafty and talented basketball player, but he was never quite all the way there between the ears. Conversely, JB's strongest points seem to be his focus, intelligence, and diligence. Also, while not currently being as 'good at basketball' as Ricky Davis' peak, the intangibles above as well as his athleticism should allow him to become a very useful and productive player in this league.

The only reference I could find about him and that group is in a slam article mentioning he did something as an homage to the movement.

It wouldn't shock me if he was inspired by the movement, but doesn't believe in it.

Alot of early 90s rap draws inspiration from that movement, and Jaylen loves that era. Take a look at the wikipedia page you listed, particularly it's famous members. Everybody from Nas to melo to Ghostface Killah is listed there.

I think the Rickey Davis comp is about the best one I've heard.  Jaylen is more athlete than basketball player and has a ways to go to be a good starter.  Not sold on jaylen the all star.  And while Davis was a knucklehead, and jaylen is clearly not, their feel for the game is very similar.
