https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/247092/Kyrie-Irving-Unwilling-To-Commit-Long-Term-To-Any-Team-Trading-For-Him

Kyrie Irving is not prepared to commit to any team beyond his likely free agency in 2019.

The Phoenix Suns are a team that would be interested in trading for Irving but would like to know if he'd be willing to sign an extension. The Suns would be willing to trade Eric Bledsoe for Irving even without a commitment.

Irving is due $18.87 million in 17-18, $20.10 in 18-19 and $21.33 million in 19-20 (player option).

Irving has requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers but wants to keep his options open long-term.

(the suns are probably the best team for the Celtics. Gets kyrie Out west and knocks out a potential lottery team from being worse than Lakers and nets

Cavs should push for Bledsoe, Bender and Warren for Kyrie and Shump.

Now they are reporting Suns willing to trade Bledsoe, Bender and first round pick. If true and I am Cavs and Kyrie is gone, I take that. That is a nice haul.

Yeah, at this point that's probably the best they'll get. And I can see some people liking Bender more than Jackson, who I'm not that high on.

And that's probably excellent news for us, because not only would Cleveland get quite a bit worse, Kyrie to Phoenix would also probably push them above LAL.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
Bender sucks. He's been billed as a shooter, but he can't shoot.  And as much as I like Bledsoe and his fit on that team, that's not enough. Jackson or an unprotected first + another protected first.

He's still guaranteed for 2 years, if I'm the Cavs I'm not letting his refusal to commit long-term affect my asking price.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Bender was injured for half of last year and was always billed as a long term project. I realize he may not have the allure of the brand new toy in Jackson, but he was the #4 pick last year. If the Cavs don't like him - and they don't seem to since they seem willing to do the deal with Jackson over Bender - then I imagine there is a 3rd team out there who would be happy to take him and send a solid asset back to Cleveland (likely on a rookie scale contract).
