I agree he's overdoing it now. Dudes letting the money get to his head if all he's worried about is getting paid this year it's gonna be a distraction.

Not sure what the problem is -  IF this is whats pushing him to be what he is then let it be..  We all love IT winning games for us, Crushing people in the 4th Qtr.  Playing through all kinds of hurdles for us.. And we want him to shut up? Man please.

Backing up the Brinks truck might not be just about the money. It might be about the stability, The fact that despite all the Naysayers he has gone out and Actually earned this.. The fact that this 5 foot nothing man has played like a franchise player and will be rewarded as such..  Its not just the money for him, its the respect..   Let this man wear his dang on  sandals.. He has given us Fans everything, we can at least give him that.

The same fans who wish he would shut up are probably the same fans who want to move him for KI... ( who also are the same fans who were cool with him recruiting the likes of KD)

Any source on management not wanting to pay him max money? Except in the sense that they'd prefer to pay as little as possible for every player (which is unrealistic)

As for cap flexibility, we have none whether we keep IT or let him walk. We'll be over the cap next season either way.

Devil's advocate, but if his motivation is getting paid, what happens to his motivation after he does?

And, if IT is playing for a contract, is his focus more on stats or winning?

I understand why this turns some fans off. In a team game, IT is being very individually focused.

Like just about all of us, I am an IT fan - both as a player and what I see of his personality.  That said, I was not crazy about the 4th quarter IT Time thing and I don't particularly like the Brinks Truck.   They are both playful and fun at first but with repetition create a feel (to me) that's a little too self-focused.  When one's thought process becomes tinged with either "I'm cementing my 4th quarter reputation" or "I'm proving they need to pay me",  the goals of team-play and winning are potentially tainted.  I'm not trying to suggest that other players aren't invested in their stats, their brand, their payday.... I'm just suggesting that when they flaunt it, that's behavior that is less appealing to me.   But in general I think IT is great and I'm glad he's on this team this year.

Why, over a pair of sandals?  I am mocking you because you didn't explain your reasoning.  The phrase "there, I said it" implies you know the person reading it isn't going to like it, and you were right.

TP Well Said.  I hope IT gets paid but I also hope it works out to the amount that they can keep Smart as well and not get killed with the luxury tax.  It's a tough situation but no matter what this guy is getting paid 25+m and he deserves every penny.  Just like AB deserves to get paid but the thing that scares me is that he got shipped and if Ownership doesn't think the team with IT can win a championship then will they actually be the team that pays IT.  I hope they are.
