Yeah, he could be back but I doubt it with all the new talent now.  Not sure why some thought of him for this team again.  He was the same old GG last year Inconsistent.  Still I always liked the guy.

Didn't want him anyway. Green is all about scoring. We now have IT, Hayward and Tatum. No need to keep Green anymore.

This is a bit sad for me.

The first year I started following the Celtics intently was the 2006-2007 season.with Paul Pierce out for most of the year and with myself having little to no understanding of what actually made a player great, I saw Gerald's athelticism, size and 3 point stroke and fell in love. He was my first favorite player.

When I saw the headline that we traded for KG, I immediately scanned the list of names traded looking for one name only(note: despite being like 10 years old I was still aware that this trade was an unbelievable trade even if we were losing my favorite player).

every time he came available for the next decade I would hope we could take a flier on him and when we brought him in last year I was excited to have him back. While over the 10 year absence is grown to hate his game and understand that his iq was stunningly low, I was still excited to have my first favorite player back in green and Gerald seemed to feel the same way about his return.

He completely bought in braided a shamrock in his hair, mentored the kids and even played the role of an x-factor in the playoffs.

I had hoped he would return for another season but the NBA is a business and Ainge obviously feels there are better directions to go.

I'm sure Gerald will bounce around the NBA and join his 9th and 10th NBA teams in the next few years, but for me he will always be a Celtic and the guy who caught my eye with a slam dunk and made me love basketball and the Celtics.

He was a useful player for us while he was there, given the cost I suppose.

Hey he's only 2 years younger than me LOL.

Funny part is, I remember when the trade went down, people were excited we got KG, but there were ALSO some people who thought this would blow up in our face, since we gave up SO MUCH (including Green) and KG was a "headcase" (sort of like 2017 Cousins, eh?).

About 10-11 years later, the entire city loves KG and miss him.  ;D

He could still come back, but I find it hard to believe given that we have so many wings on the roster.

True.

Renouncing doesn't mean he can't come back, just that he would get the minimum and not a raise over the last deal, which would be the cap hold. His hold could be higher than the minimum in other words

He's a great wildcard to have in the deck for the minimum in my book.

He could still come back for the vet minimum which would be a good deal for him as well as us. I like him. He's a good guy to have in the locker room and he is a good guy on the bench for Brad to go to when everyone else is slumping and things need a change. The youngsters loved having him around and I did too.

Sad to see GG go again, but we don't have a spot for him. He can still be useful to some team, but we're so stacked on the wing it doesn't make any sense to bring him back.

We renounce Gerald and all his dunks.

It was nice having The Shocker again.

Best dunker on team now is Jaylen?
