tough teams don't get raped at home by a thousand points , tought teams dont give up 100 three pointers.

Our team is not tough.

2008-2012 team was tough.

Have to agree here...

If the 1990 Detroit Pistons played the 2016 Cavs you would see what toughness is all about.

I prefer the terms....got turned into a wet spot by the team that went to Golden State and in turn, got turned into wet spot.

Any team that has Marcus Smart is automatically in the discussion.

All the talk about toughest and hardest and no Smart, lol. Yes, we have put ourselves in the discussion for tough, hard teams. The Cavs are not going to gentleman's sweep us this year. Gonna be a grueling heavyweight bout.

We're physically imposing but we need that edge to our game. That 'swag'. Only Marcus Smart and IT have it, IMO. Probably Marcus Morris too.

The Cavs are the toughest hardest team.
Anyone here really think we can out-muscle Love, Thompson, LBJ for a rebound if they're all crashing the glass?

At least that's how i measure toughness, rebounding
So Love and Lee are tough, while Perk is not?

More ways to define tough.

Garnett was tough, but he wasn't physically imposing, he was just fantastic on defense, and gave it his all, he also talked a lot of trash and never backed down.

Kevin Love is a soft player, but his rebounding is tough. Defensively he is weak.

Marcus Smart is the toughest player on the Celtics, he is hard nosed, go after everything, and never back down guy, but as good as his defense is, players still burn him, partly because players at certain positions are so fast, that nobody can really stop them.

Toughness is a loose term.

IT is tough too. Bradley tough.

Paul Pierce is tough....Ray Allen as smooth as it gets, but tough player too.

You don't need to be a trouble maker to be tough.

Why is Perk tough? because he is a brute? LOL Perk became one of the weakest players when he left Boston, no toughness at all, maybe a locker room guy at best , but on the court, Love would out rebound him all day everyday, every loose rebound. Thats tough to me. Not how you view toughness.

Lend me that clairvoyant glasses you have. I hope you realize that all the softies from last year's team which get raped like you mentioned, are gone and replaced by much tougher big men.

We were relatively soft last year.  Outside of Smart, there wasn't much in the way of tough.  IT and AB were mentally tough, Crowder was strong but didn't really play big.  And Jonas brought a bit when called upon.  Baynes and Morris are some sound goons, though, and I hopefully Jaylen becomes more aggressive defensively.

Ya i'm gonna need to actually see the rookies play in an NBA game before I anoint them as "tough."

I love those Celtics teams as much as any, but they had a few very disappointing no shows in elimination games on their home court.

2008-2012 team was tough.
2008 team let an 8 seed take them 7 games.
2012 team lost by 20 up 3-2 against the Heat in the garden. Game was over before halftime.

Team sucked at rebounding for all 5 years. Everyone gives up more threes now.

Morris and Baynes are known tough guys so even if the team wasn't tough (I agree it wasn't) it is tougher now.

I think that the best measure of toughness is who do you want on the floor when things are going badly. Anyone can be a good times player, but tough guys are the ones you turn to when things are going badly.

For me right now it's Marcus Smart. No one else stands out. Hopefully Tatum and Brown can be those kinda of players, but do so with more talent.

On the other hand there is something to be said for physical toughness too. Morris Crowder Baynes and smart should all provide that and Bradley, Amir and Klynyk did not.

So in conclusion: will this team be more mentally tough than last year's team? Maybe. Morris is supposedly a gamer.

Will they be more physically tough? Absolutely.

Really? dissapointing? Which ones? Losing to the Magic? without Garnett and having to play Scalabrine and Mikki Moore?

Oh they lost Miami , who ended up winning the Championship that year

Lebron's game 6 was his most legendary game of all time at our house, still the game was neck and neck...

You know nothing if you say they were dissapointing games. The team always fought hard.

This past year was an embarrassment of literal historic proportions.

The Celtics team that lost from 2008-2012, was always almost the underdog. They never truly were blown out of the arena.

Im disgusted by some fans revising history , but can't see what happenned a few months ago.

You didn't prove that they were not tough with anything you said.
