Well would you do it if Golden St wasn't Golden St?

Would you replace Smart with Rondo as the primary back up PG?

Why would we trade one non-shooter in for another non-shooter that also has no defense in this point in his career? At least Smart gives us defensive versatility with All-NBA level defense. What does Rondo, a ball-dominant, non-shooter dinosaur, give you at this point?

And I'm still convinced that Smart ran over your dog or something when you were younger, too. You've been gone for awhile, and as soon as you come back BAM - two Smart-hating threads. Lol

If it was just for a back-up PG spot then I probably would, but Smart will play a lot of SG and Rondo can't do that, so no I wouldn't do it.

No, I wouldn't trade Smart for a free agent point guard that we could probably have signed with the room exception.

Heck, that would arguably be more than the Mavs traded for him back when they got fleeced, and at that point it wasn't clear how far he'd fallen off.  The only way this looks like a good deal is if you hate Smart or seriously think that Rondo going down was the only reason the Bulls lost on the first round

Which I think is nonsense. If IT's sister doesn't die, that series would have been over much sooner. The team was clearly rattled those first two games.

I have to admit I'm still interested in seeing Rondo on a team with four capable/good/great shooters. It's too hard to build a team around him though, because shooting is hard to find and you'd have to make up for his defensive indifference.

It would be better to do the experiment with someone like Rubio, who is still young and actually plays D.

I agree.  Rondo going down certainly played a role, but IT's sister dying and the Celtics playing out of sorts did as well.  Once IT had some time to grieve and the Celtics really focused on playing their game the series wasn't even close.

Trying to picture that Rondo and Stevens meeting where Brad lets Rondo know it's not part of the system for him to pound the ball for 12 seconds on every possession.

Just say no.

Yes, I would definitely do this trade six year ago.

You are assuming too much. When I argue about Smart, I argue with the fans about the facts,

Smart is my type of player. I love Smart, but I know his offense is attrocious, and I feel like he really doesn't have it to improve it. Everytime I see him shooting his 30 foot 3's and smiling , I can't help but think what world is he on where he acts like he can shoot.

Meanwhile Ray Allen who shot three pointers all the time at workouts, was always serious, and never looked like he thought he was all world, and he was the king of 3's and still is.

I love Smart as a player. He just has annoying weaknesses.

All im saying is Rondo would be a good look as a backup point guard on this team.

I would think it would take Smart to even do that...

but as mentioned above, they could sign him anyway if they wanted/ or could have.

No? I take it you don't value Smart very much.
